Tony's board game website
I have a 2-player board game I've been designing that is fairly simple, plays in 10 ish minutes and the box fits in the palm of my hand. It's got a surprising amount of mindgames, bluffing, and strategy, and you are highly rewarded for being able to predict what your opponent will do on their turn.
I'd love to make a website for it that supports online multiplayer (At least "connect with a friend" style multiplayer). It also doesn't have to be a web-app, it could alternatively be an app you run that you can also connect with people in.
The gameplay is fairly straightforward, there's a deck of 27 cards with circles, squares, or triangles, in red, green, or blue, and with 1, 2, or 3 shapes on them. Each player also has a bag of gems with varying values (12 1's, 6 2's, 3 4's, and 1 7 value gem). Each round, you deal out 3 cards faceup between the players, and each player draws 5 gems from their bag and secretly bid on the available cards. You win the cards that you outbid your opponent on. You repeat this over the course of 7 rounds, then each player scores their cards and the player with the most points wins
Whichever player has more cards of a specific shape scores 1 point for each card of that shape they have. Example:
Player 1: 2 circle cards, 4 square cards, 3 triangle cards. Player 2: 2 circle cards, 1 square card, 5 triangle cards.
Player 1 gets 4 points in this example for their 4 square cards, and player 2 gets 5 points for their 5 triangle cards. They have the same number of circle cards, so nobody scores any points.
Here's the kicker. At the beginning of the game, each player chooses from 2 secret identities that give them special scoring rules. Examples include: The painter gets 1 point for each set of 3 different colored cards Even Steven gets 2 points for each even-numbered card, but loses a point for each odd-numbered card The diplomat gets 3 points for each shape category that they tie with their opponent Mr. Scrooge gets 1 point for each gem left in his bag at the end of the game
For each of the last 3 rounds of the game, you have the opportunity to guess what your opponent's scoring objective is, and you get points for doing so, but you lose points for guessing wrong.
I'd love to build this out, I think the game has a lot of potential and is really fun!
