Lore

MyPrompt's history is short but dense. The git record begins in June 2026, and the standalone repository took its current shape through a migration-and-merge sequence in September 2026.

Eras

Boundary and installability (Jun–Aug 2026). The first commit (prompt/wikirepo boundary, 2026-06-28) marks the standalone repository line. July brought desktop window-state work, a renderer-bootstrap restore, and the repo being made installable in CI, alongside security-driven dependency bumps. August held only two dependabot bumps (fast-uri, electron).

Capsule migration (Sept 2026). In September the prompt workspace was migrated into the standalone SAFRS layout (commits feat(internal): migrate prompt and unicom capsules and feat(capsule): migrate Prompt to standalone SAFRS layout, both 2026-09-21) and merged into main. The same window added claude compiler profiles, dynamic desktop provider readiness, model compilers, and optimizer hardening, plus a short-lived browser extension that was later removed from the tree.

Coding Brief and terminal shell (Sept 2026). The rest of September is the Coding Brief month. A rapid sequence of commits built the feature in three versions: v1.0 (contract and validator), v2.0 (CONTEXT/SCOPE/STACK plus V10/V11), and v3.0 (fill-by-default with ASSUMPTIONS plus V12–V14). The same window replaced the desktop shell with a single terminal transcript, sized the window in character columns/rows, and added the clarification round that refines a delivered brief. The commits are authored almost entirely under the Codex lane.

Security and dependency hardening (Sept 2026). A Dependabot and CI hardening streak closed transitive advisories (PostCSS, UUID, minimatch, rollup, esbuild, tar, undici, shell-quote, tmp, and others) and added audit gates that block risky dependency changes.

Longest-standing features

The Transform engine (lib/transform/engine.ts) is the oldest product logic and has survived the migration essentially unchanged: intent detection, personas, model hints, and token estimation have stayed in their current shape while everything around them evolved. The provider registry (lib/llm/provider-registry.ts) is similarly stable, its six-provider constructor map and env-key map unchanged since the build-out.

Deprecated features

  • Web-era transform history. lib/transform/storage.ts writes transform history to localStorage, a leftover from the pre-migration web app. It has no callers in the desktop capsule.
  • v1.0 Coding Brief headings. lib/optimizer/coding-brief-format.ts still maps the old WHERE, SCENARIO, and FOLLOW PATTERN headings to their v3.0 equivalents and reports them as deprecated, rather than rejecting them outright.
  • The browser extension. A browser extension under extension/ was added in September 2026 (feat(extension): add Sentra Prompt browser extension) and later removed: it is no longer present in the standalone repository at main.

Major rewrites

The most visible rewrite was the desktop shell. Early commits built a conventional renderer surface; in September it was replaced by a single terminal transcript (feat(prompt): replace the desktop shell with a single terminal transcript, 2026-09-23), with the renderer's system-facing text moved into the import-free desktop/renderer/strings.ts so the console could load it through a require shim. The window-size logic moved from fixed pixels to a measured character-cell grid, with a WINDOW_STATE_VERSION bump (currently 7) each time the layout changed so stale persisted sizes are discarded.

Growth trajectory

The repository runs as one capsule with no workspace packages (pnpm-workspace.yaml declares zero packages). The test suite grew alongside the features and currently spans four areas: optimizer/, desktop/, llm/, and compiler/, plus the Playwright e2e spec. The version history is tagged v0.1.0.
