Storage and Files

NoBrain exposes two different storage domains.

Private Linux storage

The Linux rootfs and home directory live in Android private application data. Common locations include:

/home/nobrain
/home/nobrain/Documents
/home/nobrain/.config

Official update-in-place APK installation preserves this data. Android uninstall or Clear data removes it.

Android shared storage

The Linux guest can access shared storage through paths such as:

/sdcard
/sdcard/Download
/home/nobrain/sdcard

The exact Linux username used by the developer is irrelevant. SSH export, for example, always targets Android's shared Download/NoBrain-SSH directory.

Android may expose unusual owner, group, and mode values inside PRoot. A Linux command can sometimes write successfully even when a desktop application's own permission check rejects the same directory.

Recommended workflow

  • Keep active Linux application data under /home/nobrain.
  • Use Android shared storage to exchange files with Android applications.
  • Copy important documents to shared storage or another device before uninstalling or clearing data.
  • For WPS PDF export, save under /home/nobrain/Documents/WPS-Export first.

All files access

NoBrain requires Android All files access for a reliable visible exchange folder. If /sdcard/Download is unavailable, grant the permission, use NoBrain Shutdown, and reopen the application.
