WPS Office

WPS Office is optional and is not preinstalled in the base rootfs.

Install WPS

Open the NoBrain menu and select the WPS installer, or run the canonical installer from a terminal:

sudo /usr/local/bin/install-wps

The download is approximately 367 MB. Keep NoBrain open until extraction, dependency installation, and font-cache refresh finish.

The installer adds:

  • WPS Writer
  • WPS Spreadsheet
  • WPS Presentation
  • the tiff5 compatibility library required by WPS PDF export

If WPS is already installed, running the same script repairs its required runtime dependencies without reinstalling the full payload.

PDF export

Export to the Linux filesystem first, preferably:

/home/nobrain/Documents/WPS-Export

WPS may reject direct export to Android shared storage even when Linux command- line tools can write there. WPS performs its own ownership and permission checks, while Android shared storage presents UID/GID metadata that does not match the Linux guest user.

Do not work around this by running WPS as root, changing all of /sdcard, or symlinking incompatible TIFF libraries.

Dialog and file chooser behavior

Build 150 includes a helper that repairs missing X11 transient/dialog hints on WPS native file choosers. Save/Browse windows should appear above the export dialog that opened them. If a chooser appears behind its parent, report the exact WPS application and sequence of actions.

Troubleshooting WPS

Check that the compatibility package exists:

xbps-query -p pkgver tiff5

Check for unresolved libraries:

ldd /opt/kingsoft/wps-office/office6/wps | grep 'not found'

No output from the second command is the expected result. Installer details are written to:

/tmp/wps-install.log
