The Screen
The screen itself is one model, shared by Glass and glass-evo and set in one place: the Glass Manager's Screen tab. What the player has (panels, inputs, backlight), the rotation, the pointer and the touch mapping are described on the Glass wiki's Screen page, and apply to glass-evo as they do to Glass's display.
glass-evo holds the screen in one of two ways, by what the player has: on a Raspberry Pi it draws on the screen itself, with no X server; on x86 it draws on a plain X server brought up for it, since the picture may reach the screen there through X alone. Rotation, pointer and touch are set the same way in both.
On a player with glass-evo the same tab adds four things:
- The screen's owner, the kiosk or glass-evo, with the button that hands the screen over or back: Choosing-the-Glass-interface.
- Face size: Normal, Large for a hand at arm's length, Car for a glance while driving. It scales every piece of the face together.
- The Face tab and Anymote show: whether the browser views carry the face over the theme. What each of its three choices means is on Choosing-the-Glass-interface, under "In a browser".
- How the screen looks: the looks to choose from and their adjustments, on Face-Themes.
The owner and "The Face tab and Anymote show" are on the tab wherever glass-evo is installed. Face size and the look are shown where glass-evo has a binary for the player and the screen is its own or one it could hold; a player with no screen glass-evo can draw on by itself is told so, and keeps its kiosk.
The backlight is read and shown on the Manager's Status tab. Its brightness and the idle timing, which the Touch Display plugin sets while the kiosk runs, are not yet glass-evo's to set.
