Anvil
Everything you do to jewelry after making it happens at an anvil. Put the jewelry in the left slot and the other item in the right slot. Each action costs 1 experience level and uses up the item in the right slot.
| To | Right slot | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| Add a gem | A gem | Jewelry with no gem |
| Remove a gem | Shears | Jewelry with a gem |
| Add a spell | A spell scroll | Jewelry with no spells |
| Recharge | Amethyst Shard, Emerald or Recharge Scroll | Jewelry with a gem and recharges left, or a Skull Belt that isn't full |
| Repair | Any Magic Treasures jewelry | Repairs left |
Gem in the right slot. The jewelry becomes the gem version (a Silver Ring with a Ruby becomes a Silver Ruby Ring) and gains the gem's mana and recharges. Its current mana, durability, repairs and spells carry over.
Gems: Topaz, Onyx, Diamond, Jadeite, Ruby, White Pearl, Sapphire and Black Pearl. Treasure2's gems work too. See Jewelry Stats for what each gives.
Some jewelry is picky: Castle Rings only take a Ruby or Sapphire, and Hawk Rings and most named jewelry can't take a gem at all.
Shears in the right slot. The gem is destroyed, not returned, and so are the shears. The jewelry loses the gem's mana and recharges.
Use this to swap a weak gem for a better one.
To keep the gem instead, use Jewelry Pliers in a crafting grid. That destroys the jewelry and gives you the gem back.
Before 1.4.0, axes also worked here (and were used up).
Spell scroll in the right slot.
- The scroll's level must be no higher than the jewelry's Spell Max. Level.
- Jewelry can only be given a spell while it has none. A piece that already has a spell can't take another.
A scroll's color shows its level: yellow 1–2, green 3–4, blue 5–6, red 7–8, black 9+. See Spells.
An Amethyst Shard, Emerald or Recharge Scroll in the right slot. With Diamethysts!, its shards and crystals work too.
- Refills the jewelry's mana completely and uses 1 recharge.
- The jewelry must have a gem: recharges come from gems, so jewelry without one can't be recharged.
- A Skull Belt recharges the same way (from 1.4.0). It has 2 recharges of its own and can't be recharged while full.
Any piece of Magic Treasures jewelry in the right slot (it's used up).
- Restores full durability and uses 1 repair.
- Jewelry with no repairs left can't be repaired. Some starts with none, like Regular-style Wood and Bone jewelry. Repair before durability hits 0, because at 0 the jewelry breaks.
