A walk-through from nothing to a piece of jewelry casting spells for you.
You can find it or craft it.
- Find it: jewelry, gems and spell scrolls turn up in vanilla chests (villages, dungeons, temples, strongholds and more) and drop from many mobs. With Treasure2 installed, its treasure chests are full of them too. See Where to Find.
- Craft it: find a Ring Recipe, Necklace Recipe or Bracelet Recipe scroll and combine it with 4 ingots (iron, copper, silver or gold) or 4 bones in a crafting table. See Crafting.
Hover over jewelry to see its stats. Hold Shift for the full tooltip.
- Without Curios: hold the jewelry or keep it in your hotbar. Only the first 4 jewelry items in your hotbar count.
- With Curios: put it in your ring, necklace or bracelet slot instead. When Curios is installed, hotbar jewelry no longer casts.
Crafted jewelry starts with no spells. Put the jewelry in the left slot of an anvil and a spell scroll in the right slot.
- The scroll's level must be no higher than the jewelry's Spell Max. Level (shown in its tooltip).
- Jewelry can only be given a spell while it has none.
See Anvil for the details and Spells for what each spell does.
Spells cast by themselves: healing spells when you're hurt, shields and resistances when you take damage, attack spells when hostile mobs are near, and buffs on a cooldown.
Every cast costs mana and 1 durability.
- Mana doesn't refill on its own. When it runs out, the jewelry stops casting until you recharge it.
- When durability reaches 0, the jewelry breaks and is gone. Repair it before then.
- Set a gem at the anvil for more mana, recharges and better spells. Jewelry without a gem can't be recharged. See Jewelry Stats.
- Recharge it at the anvil with an Amethyst Shard, Emerald or Recharge Scroll to refill its mana.
- Repair it at the anvil with another piece of Magic Treasures jewelry to restore its durability.
Each piece of jewelry only has a few recharges and repairs, shown in its tooltip. When they're used up, it can't be recharged or repaired any more.
- Bigger is better: Great and Lord's jewelry have more durability, mana and repairs, and a higher spell level than Regular.
- Materials matter: gold is cheaper to cast with, bone hits harder, iron makes buffs last longer. See Jewelry Stats.
- Look out for Named Jewelry: unique pieces that come with spells and often never wear out.
- The Magic Treasures Guide book (needs Patchouli) is in the Magic Treasures creative tab.
