Modpacks and Datapacks
For modpack makers, datapack authors and server owners. This is the only page where Forge 1.20.1 and NeoForge 1.21.1 differ.
To add materials, gems, styles or named jewelry (from 2.0.0), see Jewelry Datapacks.

Jewelry from a 1.20.1 world doesn't keep its Magic Treasures data (mana, spells, gems and so on) when the world is opened in 1.21.1. It goes back to that item's defaults.
magictreasures-server.toml, section [loot]:
| Option | Default | Turns on or off |
|---|---|---|
enableVanillaLootModifiers |
true | All Magic Treasures loot in vanilla chests and mob drops |
enableUncommonChestLootModifier … enableMythicalChestLootModifier
|
true | Chest loot of one rarity (Uncommon, Scarce, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythical) |
enableGeneralEntityLootModifier |
true | Drops from the general mob group |
enableZombieEntityLootModifier |
true | Drops from zombies, husks and drowned |
enableSkeletonEntityLootModifier |
true | Drops from skeletons and strays |
enableWitherSkeletonEntityLootModifier |
true | Drops from wither skeletons |
enableScarceEntityLootModifier |
true | Drops from endermen and vexes |
enableRareEntityLootModifier |
true | Drops from the rare mob group (blaze, ghast and more) |
enableEpicEntityLootModifier |
true | Drops from bosses (Ender Dragon, Wither, Warden and more) |
| enableFishingJunkChestLootModifier | true | Magic Treasures items in fishing junk catches (10%) |
| enableFishingTreasureChestLootModifier | true | Magic Treasures items in fishing treasure catches (10%) |
Which chests and mobs are in each group is listed on Where to Find. Treasure2's own chests aren't affected by these options.
Note: before 1.4.0 the two fishing options did nothing: fishing junk never gave Magic Treasures loot, and fishing treasure followed
enableScarceChestLootModifier. In a datapack, amagictreasures:defaultloot modifier can name the option that controls it with"config"(fishing_junk,fishing_treasure, or a rarity).
From 1.4.0. config/magictreasures-client.toml, section [client]. Each player sets these for themselves, even on a server:
| Option | Default | Turns on or off |
|---|---|---|
enableSpellParticles |
true | The spark particles spells make when they cast |
showTooltipIcon |
true | The item drawn beside its name in Magic Treasures tooltips |
magictreasures-common.toml has the mod's log settings (level, file size, folder).
Magic Treasures adds its loot through global loot modifiers in its own namespace:
-
magictreasures:loot_modifiers/chest/<rarity>: adds 1–2 items of a rarity to listed chests, with a chance. -
magictreasures:loot_modifiers/entity/<group>: rolls the loot tablemagictreasures:entities/<group>for listed mobs.
To change which chests or mobs get loot, or the chances, override these files in a datapack at the same path. Each modifier lists its targets with loot_table_id conditions.
Magic Treasures registers its Curios slots by datapack, in data/magictreasures/curios/:
-
slots/ring.jsonsets 1 ring slot. -
entities/magictreasures.jsongives players the necklace, ring, bracelet and belt slots.
To give players more ring slots, add your own data/<your_namespace>/curios/slots/ring.json with a larger size. Curios uses the largest size any datapack sets:
{
"size": 2
}(1.20.1: from Magic Treasures 1.3.1. Earlier versions registered slots in code.)
Magic Treasures' items use the loader's common tags, so they work in other mods' recipes:
| Tag (1.21.1) | Tag (1.20.1) | Items |
|---|---|---|
c:ingots/silver |
forge:ingots/silver |
Silver Ingot |
c:raw_materials/silver |
forge:raw_materials/silver |
Raw Silver |
c:ores/silver, c:ores/<gem>
|
forge:ores/... |
Silver and gem ores |
c:gems/<gem> |
forge:gems/<gem> |
Topaz, Onyx, Jadeite, Ruby, Sapphire, pearls |
Magic Treasures' own tags, in magictreasures::
| Tag | What it controls |
|---|---|
jewelry/stones/tier/tier1 … tier6
|
Which items count as gems, and their tier |
jewelry/stones/rechargers |
Items that recharge jewelry at the anvil |
tools/stone_removal |
Tools that remove a gem at the anvil (shears only from 1.4.0; axes were used up by the anvil) |
jewelry/rarity/<rarity> |
Which jewelry can appear in loot of a rarity |
jewelry/castle_ring/... |
Gems a Castle Ring accepts |
Add an item to a tier tag to make it a gem; add one to rechargers to let it recharge jewelry.
From 2.0.0: gems, their tiers and jewelry rarity come from the jewelry JSON instead (see Jewelry Datapacks). The
jewelry/rarity/...tags are gone, and the tier tags no longer make an item a gem;rechargers,tools/stone_removaland the common tags work as before.
