Installation

Ensure you have Bambu Studio installed.

Step 1

Download your fusion, solidworks, or any other 3D software as a .STL file so that way it can be used in Bambu.

Step 2

Once in Bambu Studio open a new project and import the stl file through the top left file option. Screenshot 2026-05-30 104452

Step 3

Now depending on your 3D model you want to mainly consider two things,

  • If your piece is big or has a lot of hanging edges you should enable supports for now just keep it on default settings if you are not exprienced since Bambu Studio is pretty good with it's supports but if you want extra advice ask your peers since supports can vary wildy from piece to piece.
  • If your piece is small or doesn't have a lot of contact with the plate then consider adding a brim so that way the piece isn't moved while it's printing.
  • Of course there are a lot of other options and modifications you can use for supports and brims and so on, but you'll get the hang of it as you go on and you have your peers to help give you advice if you need specific supports.

For example here's a piece with a lot of overhang (supports don't show till next step)

Step 4

Now that you have your piece and the proper supports you want to slice your plate. Once you slice your plate you should be able to see your support as well as a bunch of information, telling you estimated time as well how much filament will be used and on what.

Step 5

Now don't print the plate but export the plate sliced file once you're done. Export the file to the USB stick, there should be a USB stick near the printer, make sure that the SD card is in the USB for there to be something to export to. After it's exported put the SD card into the printer and just use the touch pad to start the print.

Step 6

Wait for your beautiful print to finish and take it off the plate once it's done.
