On Forge 1.20.1, Villager Recruits is optional. When present, siege engineers can build, crew, supply, repair and dismantle Siegeworks machines.
The Recruits command screen gains a Siege Commands category. When groups are selected, buttons appear for the types of siege engines currently operated by those groups. Pick a type to command all matching crews without looking at each machine.
Looking directly at a machine adds commands that need a specific target, such as assigning or returning a crew, repairing or dismantling the machine, and picking up a siege ladder. The category can also:
- assign engineers as operators and regular recruits as pushers or passengers;
- attack a position, hold fire or fire at will;
- choose automatic, standard, explosive or incendiary ammunition;
- assign a nearby loaded container as a supply point;
- build from the blueprint in the player's off hand;
- repair or dismantle a machine;
- pick up and redeploy unused siege ladders;
- control the siege tower bridge and move groups into or out of the tower.
Engineers first use their own inventory, then an assigned supply container within 16 blocks of the machine or construction site.
The tower has one driver, five external pushing positions and 35 interior recruit seats. By default, at least two active members of the movement crew are required. Speed rises with crew size until all six positions are occupied.
Recruits can unload across a landed drawbridge and return to their reserved seats. They can path over deployed siege ladders in either direction. Opposing flows enter one direction at a time.
Recruits RTS Command adds map-based group selection and orders for compatible Recruits units. With Siegeworks installed, machine markers expose the actions supported by their current state: crew changes, loading policy, fire orders, maintenance, bridge control and ladder relocation.
The maximum artillery fire-zone radius is controlled by the Siegeworks server configuration.
