This page is a player-facing guide to Rimgate weapons: what each weapon family does well, when to field it, and what research gates matter most.
For armor pairings, see Apparel and Utilities. For unlock flow, see Research and Progression.
- Rimgate weapon identity is faction-driven:
-
Tau'ri: ballistic flexibility and role-specialized firearms. -
Goa'uld: control weapons (stun/EMP) plus elite energy repeaters. -
Wraith: bio-energy weapons with strong disable pressure.
-
- Several weapon lines are not just combat upgrades, they are progression gates.
- You get the best results by assigning weapons to job roles, not by giving everyone the same gun.
| Research | Main Weapon Unlocks | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Tau'ri weapons I |
P90, M4A1, Beretta M92A
|
Core mid-tech Tau'ri gunline package. |
Tau'ri weapons II |
M4A1 w/ M203, USAS 12, Remington 700, FIM Stinger
|
Adds breaching, long-range precision, and heavy explosive utility. |
Jaffa weapons |
ceremonial knife, Tok'Kal, Ma'Tok, Zat'nik'tel
|
Goa'uld control-focused early arsenal. |
Kull weapons |
plasma repeater |
Requires analyzing a recovered Kull gun first. |
Wraith weapons |
bio-grenade, Wraith spear, Wraith handblaster
|
Bio-energy line with strong disruption tools. |
Wraith assassin gear |
assassin blade |
Elite Wraith melee option. |
Anti-Replicator |
Anti-Replicator gun |
Specialized anti-mechanoid tool. |
| Weapon | Role | Why You Use It | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
P90 |
Close-mid suppressive fire | Fast 6-round bursts and quick handling for aggressive pushes. | Falls off at longer ranges. |
M4A1 |
General-purpose rifle | Strong all-around range and accuracy profile for default line infantry. | Not specialized at either extreme. |
M4A1 w/ M203 Launcher |
Flexible rifleman | Can switch between rifle mode and launcher mode in the field. | Launcher mode is shorter-range and slower. |
M203 underbarrel launcher |
Anti-cover / anti-clump burst | Explosive 40mm shot with splash radius for clustered targets. | Less accurate than rifle mode and slower cycle. |
Beretta M92A |
Sidearm / backup gun | Very fast warmup makes it responsive on non-primary shooters. | Limited stopping power. |
USAS 12 |
Breach and close defense | Strong close-range burst pressure in doorways and chokepoints. | Short effective range. |
Remington 700 |
Long-range precision | Very high long-range accuracy for clean picks before enemies close. | Slow cadence and weaker in close fights. |
FIM Stinger |
Heavy explosive specialist | Large blast profile for high-value grouped targets. | Extremely long warmup; poor for reactive fights. |
- The combo rifle has a direct toggle command to swap between rifle and grenade launcher modes.
- Mode swapping preserves weapon quality and hit points.
- Best practice: leave it in rifle mode by default, then swap just before clumped or entrenched targets.
| Weapon | Role | Why You Use It | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
ceremonial knife |
Early melee sidearm | Cheap, accessible melee option for Jaffa-leaning loadouts. | Outscaled by advanced melee tech later. |
Tok'Kal |
Crowd control grenade | Stun-focused AoE with EMP follow-up, strong for captures and mech disruption. | Poor lethality by itself. |
Ma'Tok staff |
Mid-range energy staff | Respectable ranged strike plus melee fallback in one weapon. | Single-shot cadence; less burst pressure than rifles. |
Zat'nik'tel |
Biological disable sidearm | Repeated hits can escalate into lethal shutdown on flesh targets. | Very weak against mechanical targets. |
plasma repeater |
Elite shock troop gun | Strong burst damage per volley for aggressive frontline shooters. | Accuracy drops hard at medium/long range. |
Rod of Anguish |
Rare control melee relic | Applies strong stun/EMP pressure in melee. | Not standard craft flow; extremely limited availability. |
-
Kull weaponsresearch requires a recoveredplasma repeaterto be analyzed. - Analysis can catastrophically fail and explode, potentially forcing another attempt.
- Use a high-Intellectual colonist and perform analysis in a safe room away from fragile gear.
| Weapon | Role | Why You Use It | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
bio-grenade |
Area denial and opening pressure | Explosive opening tool for flushing targets from cover. | Not precision-safe for tight friendly lines. |
Wraith spear |
Mid-range disable shot | Single-shot projectile with added stun pressure, great for capture teams. | Lower raw DPS than burst guns. |
Wraith handblaster |
Short-mid skirmish blaster | Fast 3-shot pattern with burn + disable pressure. | Less consistent at long range. |
assassin blade |
Elite melee finisher | High armor penetration with poison follow-up for lethal close combat. | Requires committing to melee engagement. |
Anti-Replicator gun is a specialist sidegrade, not a universal upgrade:
- It is tuned to mechanoid/replicator-style targets.
- Against organics, it is intentionally poor value compared to standard firearms.
- Best use: dedicated anti-mech pawn with a normal sidearm or squad backup.
Unique versions exist for several weapon families (for example P90, M4A1, USAS 12, Remington 700, Ma'Tok, plasma repeater, Wraith spear, and Wraith handblaster).
- Treat these as high-value rewards and prestige upgrades rather than routine production items.
- They are best assigned to your most reliable shooters, not distributed randomly.
- Tau'ri line rifleman:
M4A1orM4A1 w/ M203. - Tau'ri breacher:
USAS 12orP90. - Tau'ri marksman:
Remington 700. - Goa'uld control specialist:
Zat'nik'tel+Tok'Kalsupport from another pawn. - Goa'uld elite pusher:
plasma repeateron a durable frontline shooter. - Wraith capture team:
Wraith spearandWraith handblaster. - Anti-mech specialist:
Anti-Replicator gunbacked by conventional squad weapons.
- Match weapon role to pawn role; avoid one-size-fits-all armories.
- Use
M203,Tok'Kal, andbio-grenadeto break cover and shape enemy movement. - Keep
Zat'nik'telon targets you want disabled or captured, not mechs. - Build around
plasma repeaterwith shorter engagement lanes where its burst profile shines. - Reserve
Anti-Replicator gunfor mech-heavy maps and incidents. - Prioritize unique weapons on high-skill pawns who will actually land shots.
