Hull

  • 1989 Bayfield 36
  • Fiberglass non-skid decks
  • All portlight seals replaced 2019
  • Bottom: 3 coats ablative, applied 2025-09
  • Prop: stock fixed 3-blade bronze, 1" shaft

Deck

  • Anchor locker hinges replaced (2026-03)
  • Bow rail + lifelines
  • LED spreader lights
  • Bowsprit with anchor roller (see Ground-Tackle)
  • Transom: Starlink + AIS cable runs through gland, sealed with silicone

Davits

Kato Marine SailDavits (island model), installed 2022.

  • Top tube: 1.25" OD 316 SS
  • Solar cross tubes: 1" OD 316 SS

Davit solar mounting hardware

Per the joining-stainless-tubes thread (field-serviceable):

  • 1.25" tube → 1" cross tube joint via stainless steel conduit U-strap clamps (two per joint for rotation resistance)
  • Through ½" King StarBoard blocks at the joint (provides angle accommodation)
  • Tef-Gel on fasteners
  • 4 × ExpertPower 100W rigid panels drilled at long edge; panels float slightly on the 1" tubes

Solar lashing — current temporary state

Solar panels are currently temporarily lashed to the 1.25" davit top tubes via square lashing while waiting for permanent stainless mounting brackets. Capture this state explicitly so it's not forgotten.

HDPE / King StarBoard fastening rules

  • Pre-drill (no self-drillers — HDPE melts)
  • 7/64" drill for #10 screws
  • Stainless screws, no glue (HDPE doesn't bond)
  • Edge distance ≥ 2 × screw diameter

Cockpit / Cushions

  • Original Bimini top
  • (2) cockpit cushions — re-foamed and recovered in Sunbrella 2022
  • West Marine folding cushions added since
  • Magma propane grill (rail-mounted, 1 lb cylinders)

Through-hulls

Notable through-hulls / deck penetrations:

  • AC raw water intake (added during refit — see HVAC)
  • Diesel parking heater exhaust — starboard side, behind galley bulkhead, above waterline (see HVAC)
  • Transom Cat6 gland (Starlink / AIS / spare — see Connectivity)

Hardware

  • Cockpit table — to be repaired and re-installed
  • Cockpit scupper — clog pending fix
  • Anchor drop button at bow — pending
  • Eisenglass cleaned 2026-04

Bow Pulpit Running Light Mounts

  • Fasteners: #10 × 3/4" 316 SS screws
  • Quantity: 2 screws per stanchion mount
  • Logged: 2026-05-11
