Creating a household

Creating a household

A household is a group (e.g. your family) that shares tasks. Go to the Household page.

Creating one

If you're not in a household yet, you'll see a form to create one — give it a name and pick which day your household's week starts on. You become its owner automatically (see Household roles).

Inviting members

As owner (or manager), use "Invite someone" and enter their email. They must already have an account — this doesn't send a sign-up invite, it adds an existing user to your household directly. If no account exists for that email, you'll see a "No user found" message.

Administration

From the Household page you can also:

  • Rename the household or change its week-start day (owner only)
  • Change a member's role (owner only) — see Household roles for what each role can do
  • Remove a member (owner only)
  • Delete the household entirely — this removes every member, unshares every task from it, and converts household notes/recurring templates back to personal ones for whoever owns them. This can't be undone.

Transferring ownership

A household always needs exactly one owner, so transferring it is a deliberate two-step process rather than an instant change:

  1. The current owner picks a member to transfer to and re-enters their own password to confirm.
  2. The new owner has 3 days to accept before the transfer expires.

This prevents a household from accidentally losing its owner mid-transfer.
