Default Feature

The foundation feature that enables core Ramses Extras functionality.

Default Feature

The Default Feature is always enabled and provides the essential infrastructure for Ramses Extras. It is critical for operation, but still devices must be enabled in the configuration for entities to be created.

What It Provides

1. Shared Entity Definitions

The Default Feature defines base entity configurations that other features can inherit:

  • Absolute humidity sensors – Indoor/outdoor absolute humidity calculations
  • Transport state binary sensor – Connectivity status for FAN devices
  • Fan control mode sensor – Current control mode information

2. Base Entities

Every enabled FAN device gets these entities automatically:

Entity Type Purpose
sensor.indoor_absolute_humidity_{device_id} Sensor Indoor absolute humidity (g/m³)
sensor.outdoor_absolute_humidity_{device_id} Sensor Outdoor absolute humidity (g/m³)
sensor.fan_control_mode_{device_id} Sensor Current fan control mode
binary_sensor.transport_state_{device_id} Binary Sensor Transport connectivity status

3. WebSocket Commands

The Default Feature provides utility WebSocket commands that all other features can use:

Device & Configuration Commands

  • get_available_devices – List discovered Ramses devices
  • get_enabled_features – Show which features are enabled
  • get_cards_enabled – Check if card frontend is loaded
  • get_entity_mappings – Retrieve entity mappings for any feature
  • get_all_feature_entities – Get all entities from a feature

Remote Binding Commands

  • get_bound_rem – Get bound REM for a FAN device
  • get_remote_bindings – List all remote bindings
  • get_binding_diagnostics – Binding health and diagnostics
  • export_bindings – Export bindings as YAML
  • get_binding_suggestions – Suggest bindings from traffic

Zone Commands

  • get_zones – List zone configurations
  • export_zones – Export zones as YAML
  • get_zone_position – Get current zone valve position
  • get_zone_adapter_diagnostics – Zone adapter health
  • get_zone_coordinator_state – Zone coordinator status
  • set_zone_demand – Set demand for a zone
  • clear_zone_demand – Clear demand from a zone

Utility Commands

  • get_2411_schema – Get device parameter schema
  • get_fan_config_associations – Get FAN's zones/REMs from config
  • websocket_info – List all available WebSocket commands

4. Registry Integration

The Default Feature registers:

  • Entity configurations in the extras registry
  • WebSocket commands for cross-feature communication
  • YAML validation and import/export functions

How It Works

  1. Always Loaded – The Default Feature loads automatically when Ramses Extras starts
  2. No Configuration – It doesn't have user settings; it just provides infrastructure
  3. Shared Resources – Other features inherit and extend its definitions
  4. WebSocket Hub – Acts as the central point for WebSocket command registration

Important Notes

  • Device enablement is required – You must select which devices to enable in the configuration
  • Entities are created only for enabled devices – Disabled devices won't have entities
  • The Default Feature itself doesn't create the main fan.* entities – those come from ramses_cc
  • It focuses on diagnostic and utility entities that support other features
  • WebSocket commands are available to all features through the extras registry
