HVAC Fan Card
The main control interface for your ventilation system.
The HVAC Fan Card is a custom Lovelace card that provides comprehensive control over your FAN device. It displays real-time data from 31DA messages and offers:
- Manual control – Adjust fan speed directly
- Automation status – See Humidity Control, CO2 Control, Temp Control activity
- Zone monitoring – View zone states and demands
- Control mode – Switch between Manual, Extras Auto, and Unit Auto modes
- Parameter editing – Edit 2411 parameters in settings mode
The layout will adapt if features are enabled or disabled like humidity control, CO2 control, or temp control.
Add to your Lovelace dashboard:
type: custom:hvac-fan-card
device_id: 32:153289 # Your FAN device ID
name: HVAC Fan Card- Edit your dashboard
- Click Add Card
- Search for Hvac Fan Card
- Select your FAN device
- Configure display options
- Low / Medium / High – Manual speed selection (enters manual override)
- Auto – Toggle between Extras Auto and Unit Auto modes
- Away – Set the FAN to away/minimum ventilation mode
The card displays your current control mode:
| Badge | Meaning | Next Action |
|---|---|---|
| Manual | You selected a speed | Press Auto to resume automation |
| Extras Auto | Ramses Extras automation active | Humidity/CO2 Control can adjust speed |
| Unit Auto | FAN's built-in auto mode | Extras automation bypassed |
When zones are configured:
┌─────────────────────────┐
│ Zones: │
│ ● Bathroom: Open 85% │ ← Active demand
│ ○ Bedroom: Closed 15% │
│ ● Office: Open 90% │ ← Active demand
│ ○ Kitchen: Closed 15% │
└─────────────────────────┘
- ● – Zone is open with active demand
- ○ – Zone is closed or at minimum position
- Percentage – Current valve position (from zone adapter)
Shows whether your FAN device is online:
- 🟢 Green dot – Device is online and responding
- 🔴 Red dot – Device is offline (commands may be queued)
The online/offline text has been replaced by the coloured dot; hover it for
the full status. Based on binary_sensor.transport_state_{device_id} entity.
The four corner panels show outdoor (top-left), indoor (top-right), exhaust
(bottom-left) and supply (bottom-right) values. Where the outdoor humidity
row (RH% → absolute humidity) is rendered depends on the configured
absolute-humidity pairing in Sensor Control:
-
Outdoor pairing (
internaloutside flow,external_temp,external_abs): the humidity row sits in the top-left panel with the outdoor temperature, and the feature-status rows (Temp →, Balance →, CO2 →) stay top-right. -
Supply pairing (
internal_supply, or an external temperature entity that resolves to the FAN's ownsupply_temp): the humidity row moves to the bottom-right panel next to the supply temperature it is calculated with, and the feature-status rows move to the top-left. Zone/area rows stay top-right.
This reflects where the RH is actually measured: on units whose "outdoor" RH sensor sits in the supply duct (see Sensor Control), the humidity belongs next to the supply temperature.
The bottom-centre stats block is kept compact — fan mode, control source and the connection dot on the top line, exhaust/supply fan speeds and flow rates on the bottom line — so it does not cover the corner values.
Quick ventilation boost:
- Press High for immediate maximum ventilation
- Press Auto when done to return to automation
Leaving home:
- Press Away to set minimum ventilation
- Press Auto when returning to resume normal operation
When Humidity Control triggers:
- The card shows which zone caused the demand
- Fan speed increases automatically
- Zone valve opens to maximum position
- Press Auto at any time to override and take manual control
When CO2 Control triggers:
- Similar to Humidity Control but with higher priority
- If both are active, CO2 wins (safety priority)
When Temp Control triggers:
- The card shows a "Temp control" button in the bypass row
- A status indicator (top-right) shows: Off / On / Cooling / Heating retention
- During cooling: bypass opens, fan speed increases (coordinated via arbiter)
- During heating retention: bypass closes to retain warmth
- Pressing the temp control button toggles the feature on/off
- Manual bypass buttons automatically turn off temp control first
Manual Mode:
- Fan stays at your selected speed
- Humidity and CO2 automations are suspended
- Persists until you press Auto or the timeout expires
Extras Auto Mode:
- Ramses Extras features (Humidity/CO2 Control) are active
- Fan speed adjusts based on sensor demands
- You can still press speed buttons to temporarily override
Unit Auto Mode:
- FAN's own internal logic controls ventilation
- Ramses Extras automation is bypassed
- Useful when you want the FAN to behave "normally"

If you have multiple FAN devices, add multiple cards:
# Main floor
type: custom:hvac-fan-card
entity: fan.ramzes_32_153289
# Second floor
type: custom:hvac-fan-card
entity: fan.ramzes_32_153290- Ensure Ramses Extras is properly configured
- Clear browser cache (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R)
- Check browser console for JavaScript errors
Check:
- Device transport state indicator – Red means offline
- Are you in Manual mode with a stuck override? Press Auto
- Check Home Assistant logs for errors
- Zones must be configured in FAN Configuration first
- Ensure the
show_zonesoption is enabled - Zone entities must exist in Home Assistant
This is expected behavior:
- First press → Extras Auto (if in Manual)
- Second press → Unit Auto
- Third press → Back to first mode
The button cycles through available modes, showing the current mode in the badge.
A separate observability card showing:
- Complete FAN topology (zones, areas, REMs)
- Sensor values and mappings
- Valve positions and calibration status
- Test bench actions (with safety confirmations)
Add it alongside your HVAC Fan Card for complete control and visibility.
The HVAC Fan Card includes a settings mode (gear icon) to:
- Edit 2411 parameters directly
- View sensor source mappings
- Configure area sensors
- Adjust Humidity Control settings (min/max RH, absolute humidity offset)
- Toggle Spike: Ignore Outdoor – when enabled, indoor humidity spikes trigger extraction regardless of outdoor absolute humidity (useful for bathroom extraction)
- Toggle per-area Spike: Ignore Outdoor – same option per area sensor, so individual rooms (bathroom, kitchen) can independently ignore outdoor conditions
- Access advanced configuration options
