Getting Started (Users)

Prerequisites

  • Home Assistant >=2026.1.0 installed and running.
  • The ramses_cc integration installed and working (device communication).
  • ramses_extras installed (typically via HACS or manual install).

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Ramses CC Configuration Required

For full functionality of Ramses Extras features (especially the HVAC Fan Card), you must configure these settings in ramses_cc:

  1. Enable Message Events (required for real-time updates):

    • Go to Settings → Devices & Services → Ramses CC
    • Click Configure → Advanced Features
    • Enable Message Events
    • Set Message Events Regex to: 31DA|10D0
    • This enables real-time 31DA (HVAC data) and 10D0 (filter info) messages
  2. Enable Send Packet Service (required for fan control commands):

    • In the same Advanced Features section
    • Enable Send Packet Service
  3. Bound REM Device (required for FAN-related features):

    • Ensure your FAN device has a bound REM in the ramses_cc schema
    • The schema is the sole source of truth (Phase 4) — device traits like _class and _bound live in the schema, no longer in a separate known_list
    • Devices are added to the schema via the discovery flow (passive scan detects new devices, you accept them in the ramses_cc UI) or by manual editing in the ramses_cc schema editor
    • Example schema (stored in the ramses_cc config entry options):
      32:153289:
        _bound: 37:168270
        _class: FAN
        remotes:
          - 37:168270
      37:168270:
        _class: REM
    • The _bound trait links the FAN to its REM; remotes lists the REM device IDs that belong to this FAN

Why this matters: Without these settings, the HVAC Fan Card will only show static entity states and won't receive real-time updates or allow control commands.

Enable Ramses Extras (UI)

After installing Ramses Extras (HACS or manual) it still needs to be added to HA.

  1. Go to:
    • Settings → Devices & Services
  2. Click:
    • Add Integration
  3. Search for:
    • Ramses Extras
  4. When the configuration menu pops up, select which features to enable.

Available features include:

  • Humidity Control (Balance) - Automatic humidity-based ventilation
  • CO2 Control - CO2-based ventilation for air quality
  • Temp Control (Bypass) - Temperature-based bypass management (free cooling & heating retention)
  • FAN Configuration (Sensor Control) - Central sensor mapping and zone configuration (required for other features)
  • HVAC Fan Card - Advanced control interface
  • Ramses Debugger - Debugging tools
  • Default Feature - Always enabled (shared functionality)

This menu can be entered later from the gear icon. Some features will have their own setup menus.

Verify it is working

  • Check Home Assistant logs for ramses_extras startup messages.
  • Confirm expected entities appear for enabled features.
  • For FAN devices, confirm the shared diagnostics appear:
    • sensor.fan_control_mode_{device_id}
    • binary_sensor.transport_state_{device_id}

HVAC fan control behavior

When using the HVAC Fan Card with direct fan commands:

  • low, medium, and high card actions now create a sticky manual override.
  • While manual override is active, humidity and CO2 automation stay suspended for that FAN.
  • Sending the card back to auto clears the manual override and allows feature automation to resume.
  • The HVAC Fan Card shows:
    • a control-mode badge (Manual, Extras Auto, Unit Auto)
    • the winning manual speed in the main mode label while manual override is active
    • Manual in the Balance / CO2 status sections when those automations are being overridden

Lovelace cards

Some features provide custom Lovelace cards (JavaScript). Once the integration is set up and cards are deployed/registered, you can add cards through the Lovelace UI. This may need a restart and a browser reload. Reload the browser with cleared cache (Ctrl-Shft-R or Command (⌘)-Shft-R (MAC)).

If you upgraded from an older version, you may still have a legacy Lovelace resource entry that points to a versioned directory:

  • /local/ramses_extras/vX.Y.Z/helpers/main.js

Remove any legacy /local/ramses_extras/v... resource entries from:

  • Settings → Dashboards → Resources

Then add the current bootstrap resource (type: module):

  • /local/ramses_extras/helpers/main.js?v=<version>

Also restart HA and hard-reload your browser.
