Users Getting Started
This page is about Advanced Loot Info. For Advanced Worldgen Info, see Worldgen Info → Getting Started.
- Install a loader (Fabric, Forge or NeoForge) and, on Fabric, the Fabric API.
- Install one recipe viewer: JEI, REI or EMI.
- Download Advanced Loot Info for your Minecraft version, loader and viewer from
Modrinth or
CurseForge, and drop the jar into
mods/. - Install Advanced Core Info (ACI) for the same Minecraft version and loader, from Modrinth or CurseForge. It is a required library, listed as a dependency on both Advanced Loot Info download pages — the Modrinth app, CurseForge app and most launchers fetch it for you. Without it the loader refuses to start Advanced Loot Info.
Optionally, install ALI Compat as well: it teaches Advanced Loot Info to read loot from other mods that ship no support of their own. It is not needed to use the mod — install it if you play with one of the mods it covers. See ALI Compat.
ACI is a shared library, so one copy serves both Advanced Loot Info and Advanced Worldgen Info; installing both mods does not mean installing ACI twice.
The mod is needed on both sides in multiplayer:
- the server scans loot tables and villager trades and holds the result in memory,
- the client asks the server for that data while the recipe viewer loads (at game/world start, not when you open a category), and renders it.
In single player both sides live in the same process, so nothing extra is needed.
Open your recipe viewer and look up any block, mob, or a category icon (a chest, a fishing rod, …). Each loot category is a viewer category of its own, so you can also browse them from the viewer's category list.
Typical entry points:
| You look up | You get |
|---|---|
| a block | what it drops when broken |
| a mob (or its spawn egg) | what it drops when killed, where it spawns, and what it trades |
| a chest / fishing rod / brush / gold ingot … | the corresponding gameplay loot table |
| an emerald | villager trades |
How to read the resulting tree — chances, counts, conditions, colored slots — is described in Interface.
Everything the mod scans and shows is driven by one JSON file, config/ali/ali_common.json. You do not need to
touch it to use the mod; edit it when you want to add categories, hide loot, or work around a broken entity. See
Configuration.
- To display drops that are hardcoded in game code and therefore have no loot table (e.g. the Nether Star from the Wither), use a datapack: Fake Loot.
- To make a mod's loot entries, conditions or functions display properly, the mod itself should ship a plugin: Developers. For mods that do not, see ALI Compat.
