Getting Started

Installation

  1. Install a loader (Fabric, Forge or NeoForge) and, on Fabric, the Fabric API.
  2. Install one recipe viewer: JEI, REI or EMI.
  3. Download Advanced Worldgen Info for your Minecraft version, loader and viewer from Modrinth or CurseForge, and drop the jar into mods/.
  4. Install Advanced Core Info (ACI) for the same Minecraft version and loader, from Modrinth or CurseForge. It is a required library, listed as a dependency on both Advanced Worldgen Info download pages — the Modrinth app, CurseForge app and most launchers fetch it for you. Without it the loader refuses to start Advanced Worldgen Info.

Advanced Loot Info is not required; the two mods are independent. If you run both, they share the one ACI jar.

The mod is needed on both sides in multiplayer:

  • the server scans the world's dimensions, biomes and features and holds the result in memory,
  • the client asks the server for that data while the recipe viewer loads (at game/world start, not when you open a category), and renders it.

In single player both sides live in the same process, so nothing extra is needed.

First look

The information is per world, so it only exists once a world is loaded.

  • Every dimension of the loaded world becomes a category of its own in the recipe viewer — Overworld, The Nether, The End, plus whatever your modpack adds. Browse them from the viewer's category list.
  • Inside a category there is one entry per biome of that dimension.
  • Looking up a block shows every biome that generates it, whether as part of the terrain or through a feature.
  • Looking up the uses of a spawn egg shows every biome its mob spawns in naturally.

How to read the entry — the tree, the counts, the heights — is described in Interface.

Configuration in short

Everything lives in one small JSON file, config/awi/awi_common.json. You do not need to touch it; the options cover logging, name display, tooltip colors and charts, one display switch for the block analysis, and which dimensions are shown and with which icon. See Configuration.
