Zone Settings and False-Positive Correction

NAMO zones describe where a target should be counted, ignored, treated more cautiously, or recognized as leaving. This guide covers user-created zones, automatic false-positive correction, and optional LD2410C sensitivity adjustment.

Before You Begin

Confirm these items before tuning zones:

  • The radar is mounted firmly and faces the intended direction.
  • The floorplan size, radar position, and radar rotation are correct when a floorplan is used.
  • Normal movement appears in the expected part of the radar map.
  • Fans, curtains, reflective objects, moving machinery, and traffic outside the intended area have been considered.

Zones cannot repair an incorrect radar position or scale. Correct the installation and floorplan first.

Open Zone Settings

Open Zone settings in the dashboard. The page provides up to three tools, depending on the installed hardware:

  • Zone settings for user-created zones
  • False-positive correction for analyzing a persistent false target
  • Assist sensor sensitivity when an LD2410C is detected

You can edit zones on the local radar map without a floorplan. A saved floorplan makes their location easier to compare with rooms, walls, and doors.

Radar position and zone editing

Zone Types

Type Behavior Typical use
Detection Reports target activity inside the named area. It does not hide targets outside the area. Bed, desk, sofa, work area
Exclusion Blocks a target while it is inside the area. A persistent false target that must never count as presence
Reduced sensitivity Keeps the target available but applies stricter and shorter tracking behavior than a normal area. A marginal area where real movement is possible but false retention is common
Exit Records recent departure evidence without hiding the target while it is visible. Doorways and likely departure paths
Disabled Keeps the zone saved but stops applying its behavior. Temporarily testing without deleting a zone

Use Exclusion carefully. A real person inside an exclusion zone can also be removed from presence processing. Prefer Reduced sensitivity when the area can contain both real people and intermittent false targets.

An exit zone is not an exclusion zone. It helps NAMO decide whether a disappearing track probably left the room, but it does not turn presence off while the target remains visible.

Create and Edit a Zone

  1. Select Add zone.
  2. Enter a short, recognizable name.
  3. Choose a zone type.
  4. Drag the zone to the intended location.
  5. Drag its points to reshape it.
  6. Double-click an edge when another point is needed.
  7. Save the changes and confirm the live result.

The editor can convert a selected polygon to a rectangle, undo or redo changes, and delete the selected zone or point.

NAMO supports up to six user zones in total. Detection, exclusion, reduced-sensitivity, exit, and disabled zones share this limit. Exit points created from doors in a manually drawn floorplan also use these zone slots.

Recommended Zone Sizes

  • Keep detection zones inside the activity area they describe.
  • Make exclusion zones only large enough to cover the confirmed false target.
  • Place exit zones across the path a person actually follows when leaving.
  • Leave a little margin for normal radar-coordinate variation, but do not cover an entire room without evidence.

Observe the live target for several minutes before finalizing a small zone. A stationary target can move slightly even when the person does not.

Multi-Device Behavior

When multiple NAMO devices share a committed floorplan:

  • Detection areas are stored in the shared floorplan and edited from the configuration owner.
  • Each receiving device projects the same detection area through its own saved radar position.
  • Exclusion, reduced-sensitivity, exit, and disabled zones remain local to each radar device.

This separation prevents one radar's local false-positive area from suppressing a valid observation seen by another radar.

If the dashboard asks you to use the configuration owner, select Open source device and make the shared detection-area change there. Wait for connected devices to settle before editing shared settings.

Automatic False-Positive Correction

Use automatic correction only when the radar repeatedly reports a target that is not a person.

Prepare the Area

  1. Remove people from the radar's field of view.
  2. Leave the object or condition causing the false target unchanged.
  3. Wait until the false target is visible and reasonably stable on the radar map.
  4. Confirm that PIR motion is not active.

Spatial correction requires exactly one active LD2450 target. It stops when there is no target, when multiple targets appear, or when PIR reports movement. If an installed LD2410C is detecting by itself, its correction can run without an LD2450 spatial target.

Run Correction

  1. Open False-positive correction.
  2. Select Start correction.
  3. Keep the area empty and unchanged while samples are collected.
  4. Review the completion result before closing the dialog.

NAMO creates no area when it cannot confirm a persistent false positive. An unstable or very wide target can also finish without a correction area.

Up to four automatic correction zones can be stored. These are protected from accidental editing on the radar map. Select a correction zone from the list when you need to change it to exclusion, reduced sensitivity, or disabled, or when you need to delete it.

Shrinking an automatically protected area below its original minimum size displays a warning. Approving that warning removes the minimum-size protection for that area.

Adjust LD2410C Assist Sensor Sensitivity

This section appears only when the optional LD2410C is installed and responding.

  1. Open Assist sensor sensitivity.
  2. Select the distance band that contains the unwanted detection.
  3. Compare its moving and still energy with the current detection state.
  4. Adjust the sensitivity percentage.
  5. Select Apply to selected range.

A higher percentage is more sensitive. Change one distance band at a time and test both an empty room and a real stationary person before adjusting another band.

The live engineering session turns off automatically when you leave this view. Restore factory sensitivity resets all LD2410C settings, not only the selected band. It also restores maximum range, absence timeout, distance resolution, and Bluetooth settings.

Recommended Tuning Order

  1. Confirm radar mounting and nearby moving or reflective objects.
  2. Confirm floorplan scale, radar position, and rotation.
  3. Create detection or exit zones needed for automation.
  4. Use a small reduced-sensitivity area for a mixed-use location.
  5. Use exclusion only for a confirmed area that should never contribute presence.
  6. Run automatic correction for a persistent target in an empty area.
  7. Adjust LD2410C distance-band sensitivity only when the assist sensor itself causes the problem.

Change one item at a time, then observe the result. Several overlapping fixes make it difficult to identify which setting helped or hid a real target.

Confirm the Result

  • Walk through each detection and exit zone in a natural path.
  • Sit or stand still in places that must retain presence.
  • Leave the monitored area through the configured exit path.
  • Check an empty room long enough to reproduce the original false target.
  • Review Detection statistics for zone hits and blocked or reduced events.

Troubleshooting

A real person disappears inside a zone

Check whether the zone is Exclusion. Change it to Reduced sensitivity, shrink it, disable it temporarily, or delete it. Also review overlapping automatic correction zones.

A false target still appears

Confirm that the target actually falls inside the intended zone. If its coordinates move widely, fix the physical source or radar placement before enlarging the zone.

Automatic correction will not start

Check for PIR movement, no active target, multiple active targets, or four existing correction zones. Leave the area and wait for one persistent false target before trying again.

LD2410C tuning is unavailable

The optional sensor is not detected or is not currently responding. Check its power, UART connection, and device status before changing sensitivity.
