Connecting to a BBS

For this test, you will need

  • Atari Computer
  • FujiNet
  • Working WiFi Connection
  • A host slot set to atari-apps.irata.online

Steps

  1. Power on #FujiNet
  2. Power on Atari
  3. Wait for CONFIG to boot.
  4. Select atari-apps.irata.online
  5. Select Atari_8-bit folder.
  6. Select Comms folder.
  7. Select modem-programs.atr
  8. Ensure that modem-programs.atr is mounted as R on D1:
  9. Press OPTION to boot.
  10. Wait for menu.
  11. Select 1 for Bobterm from the menu. Wait for BOBTerm to load.
  12. Once BOBTerm is loaded, Press B to select 2400 baud.
  13. Press B again to select 4800 baud.
  14. Press RETURN to enter Terminal Mode.
  15. Type AT RETURN (keypresses should echo)
  16. #FujiNet should respond OK
  17. Type ATDT southernamis.ddns.net RETURN
  18. Fujinet will attempt to connect to Southern Amis BBS.
  19. Modem should respond with CONNECT 4800, followed by BBS login.
  20. If the BBS is busy, then try the Basement BBS by typing ATDT basementbbs.ddns.net:9000 RETURN
  21. If you are logging into Southern Amis, enter your handle and your password. If you are a new user, then enter NEW for your password.
  22. If you are logging into the Basement BBS, then enter your alias (handle) and your password. If you are a new user, then enter NEW for your alias.
  23. Once logged in, press ? for a list of BBS commands.
  24. Try some of these BBS commands.
  25. When you are ready to log out, press G from the main prompt and following the logout instructions.
  26. Once logged out, #FujiNet should respond with NO CARRIER.
  27. Test done. Power down Atari.

Expected Result

  • WiFi Modem should be able to properly respond and connect/interact to southernamis.ddns.net and basementbbs.ddns.net:9000 BBSs.
