Krumpaz

Approved identity and design status

Krumpaz is the approved name of JetSetCraft's krump rival gang. Together with Footworkas, it expands the rival lineup to six: Gabberina, Cumbias, Phonkistas, Hardtekkas, Krumpaz and Footworkas. Existing factions retain their identities and content. The name and dance direction are approved; the gameplay treatments below are proposals and implementation requirements, not shipped features. Final members, genders, boss names and unlock conditions remain undecided.

Krumpaz should make a battle circle feel electrically alive through expression, buildup and release. Their presence comes from characterful movement and an answering crew, with space for restrained tension before an enormous payoff.

Cultural and musical foundation

Krump is rooted in Los Angeles dance culture. KOB and Twiggz Fam's practitioner account describes stomps, chest pops and arm swings alongside storytelling, sessions, battles and community. These are starting points for research and collaboration with credited dancers. Choreography should convey personality and expression without reducing the culture to anger, violence or a criminal stereotype.

The proposed musical identity foregrounds weight, sharply articulated accents, space, tension and release. Give phrases room to build rather than treating higher tempo as the only route to excitement. Source actual krump music and movement together with practitioners. Curated music references below are research candidates, not approved production tracks. Reference links do not grant recording, choreography, remix or distribution rights.

Movement on foot and on skates

Maintain two deliberately authored vocabularies. On-foot performance can explore recognizable stomps, chest accents, arm pathways and expressive pauses with appropriate rig support. On skates, reinterpret their phrasing through low traveling glides, controlled braking, weighted turns, balanced upper-body accents and firmly resolved landings. A grounded footplant requires a credible stopped stance or an on-foot transition; adding wheels to a planted-foot animation is insufficient.

Proposed signature interactions include a restrained rolling phrase answered by a forceful landing, or a compressed upper-body accent that opens into a broad traveling gesture. Judge balance, momentum, contact and readability in the actual game. These skating inventions are adaptations for JetSetCraft, not descriptions of authentic krump steps.

Shared dance and reactive rave systems

Use the common music-driven generation system to compose varied phrases from compatible authored movements and permitted beat, phrase and section cues. Preserve a clear krump vocabulary through variation, transitions and expressive breathing room. Rig, terrain, speed and current action constrain valid choices.

Support player and enemy solos, call-and-response, crew relays, coordinated group phrases and head-to-head battles. A crew should answer its lead with distinct reactions and spatial formations rather than duplicate one looping animation. Participation remains voluntary for players, with clear entry and exit behavior.

The shared Killer Instinct-inspired combo payoff requirement applies equally to players and rivals: confirmed chains, landings, major payoffs, breaks and recovery should drive original music accents, lights, lasers and crew responses. For Krumpaz, explore a narrow pool of light and restrained musical tension expanding across the circle at a meaningful release. Do not delay input, physics or scoring to reach a beat. Nighttime courses should deliver the full, music-synchronized rave ambition while preserving routes, hazards and counterplay. Exact timing needs authorized game-native audio and cues; an external track link alone supplies neither.

Rival influence and progression

Krumpaz participates in the shared rival influence, territory, reputation and takeover systems. Proposed surprises can include a rival answering a familiar phrase differently or interrupting its own buildup with a readable feint. Surprises need telegraphs and fair recovery windows. Each rival faction can be defeated independently; defeating or customizing one must not silently reset another.

Preserve the shared full-takeover rule: borrowed mob abilities are stripped. Save, reload, respawn and style changes must not restore stripped powers or duplicate rewards. Keep source mob identity and unrelated state intact.

Reputation can support music and dance customization under the shared permission model. Exact ranks, thresholds, affected scope and unlocks require design decisions. Preserve stable gang identity, defeat history and other players' choices. Bosses remain human, with mob-themed visual language and borrowed-ability presentation; final motifs, rosters and names are open.

Courses and validation

Use temporary, terrain-aware event courses and arenas that preserve vanilla terrain and player builds. Clear event-owned effects and actors reliably on completion, cancellation, disconnect and restart. New underwater skating needs purpose-built movement, readable depth and routes, safe exits and tested transitions; it cannot be assumed to work through ordinary swimming animations.

Native acceptance tests must cover:

  • On-foot/skating transitions, wheel contact, varied rigs and underwater movement.
  • Player/enemy solos, crews, head-to-head timing and simultaneous combo payoffs.
  • Independent defeat, takeover power removal, customization permissions and save/reload persistence.
  • Reduced-flash/no-strobe, reduced motion, adjustable intensity and usable muted-play cues without scoring penalties.
  • Multiplayer lag, late joins, cleanup, missing assets and offline fallback.
  • Frame/tick stability, memory and startup comparisons, with no feature loss, arbitrary participation caps or performance regressions.

Next implementation decisions

  • Audition the curated references; choose original/authorized production audio and practitioner-informed choreography.
  • Define faction-specific movement, fair challenges and mob-boss profiles without inventing final roster or unlock thresholds.
  • Integrate the six-rival control/power matrix, independent defeats and shared music/course systems.
  • Pass the native preservation, multiplayer, accessibility, cleanup and performance tests above before completion claims.
