C5Lab Pancake-C5 DIY — Development Channel (Not Stable)

Development channel only; not stable. CYM includes a development-channel target for the C5Lab Pancake project, a DIY ESP32-C5 handheld based on the Waveshare ESP32-C5-WIFI6-KIT and a 3.5-inch capacitive touch display.[1]

This is the same shared CYM application used by the other boards—not a separate firmware fork. The development-channel board profile follows pinned C5Lab reference commit 02528ded8feb242a8400e575b14e489ada1f960b.

Dedication

The CYM Pancake-C5 build is dedicated to D3h420, Janek, and OyczE. Their work, hardware ideas, and community contributions helped inspire both this port and the original CYM direction.

Flashing

Until physical qualification is complete, use the development-channel selector:

Choose Pancake-C5 DIY (Dev Only — Not Stable). A merged CYM-Pancake-C5-full.bin is also available for manual flashing at offset 0x0000.

Qualification status

The build is deliberately restricted to the Development channel and is not a Stable release target. Source contracts and a clean ESP-IDF build validate integration, not hardware behavior. Remote testing should check:

  1. Boot log identifies Pancake-C5.
  2. Display orientation, colors, full 480×320 bounds, and backlight.
  3. Touch corners and center; no mirrored or swapped axis errors.
  4. SD mount/read/write and screen responsiveness during I/O.
  5. Wi-Fi 2.4/5 GHz, BLE, and 802.15.4 features.
  6. GPS on GPIO13/14, including Clock GPS lock and Maidenhead display.
  7. AP NTP from an isolated client.
  8. Battery reading sanity and WS2812 status.
  9. Repeated Back/Home navigation and at least a 30-minute soak.

Please report serial logs and photos for any display/touch mismatch. Do not infer a controller or PCB revision from appearance alone; report the actual board/display source and markings.
