RSRebase does not read, copy or convert any save made in RomStation: neither in-game saves (memory cards, cartridge battery saves) nor save states.
On the device, a copied game starts with no save. Saves stay in RomStation, where they keep working.
Moving them by hand is sometimes possible when the emulator on the device reads the same format. Keep a copy of the original files before trying. Saves made on the device are not touched.
Not to be confused with the Back up the existing file option of the rebase window, which keeps a copy of the metadata file (
gamelist.xml…).
The BIOS files some systems expect (Playstation, Neo-Geo, Dreamcast, Mega-CD…) have to be installed on the device as its system's documentation says.
The RomStation library is never modified, and nothing is deleted on the destination.
- A game unchecked in a second rebase stays on the card
- A game whose name or layout changed is copied again, and the old copy stays in place
- An interrupted copy (cancel, media removed) may leave an incomplete file on the destination, which the next rebase takes as already there. Delete it by hand, or run again with If file exists set to Overwrite. A fix is planned for 1.3.1
- Only zip archives are extracted. A game delivered as 7z or rar is copied as is
- RSRebase ships no conversion tool, see External tools
- A Dreamcast game delivered as
.cdiis not converted to CHD: chdman does not read that format. Flycast reads the.cdi - Pause suspends the copies, not a tool already started
- Romsets (Keep name) and folder games (DOS, Windows) are never converted
- Device tests were made on an Anbernic RG353V running dArkOS. The other default architectures follow each system's documentation and were not all tried on a device. Feedback goes through an issue, Device or frontend report template
- With ES-DE and Cocoon, covers and metadata go to an
ES-DEfolder at the root of the destination, to be merged by hand with the one on the device
- An architecture writes a single metadata format. For two frontends on the same card, run two rebases with two architectures
- Titles, descriptions, genres and dates come from the RomStation database. Nothing is fetched from the Internet
