The Worldbreaker Realm

The bosses you fought did not rise on their own. An evil power pulls their strings like a puppeteer. Its trail leads into a shattered realm, torn from the world long ago – the realm of the Worldbreaker.

The realm is a dimension of floating islands in three layers. Below them there is only the void – watch your step. Beds do not work here.

Opening the portal

  1. Worldbreaker Dust – Sylvaron, Aureon, Nekhraz, Varkhul, Morvath and Elyndra each give every rewarded player 2–4 dust. Four dust make one Worldbreaker Block.
  2. The frame – build an upright frame of Worldbreaker Blocks in the Overworld, like a Nether portal: at least 3 wide and 4 tall counting the frame (1 × 2 inside), up to 64 × 64 inside. The corners are optional.
  3. Primordial Spark – Astrael leaves one. Two sparks and two iron ingots make a Worldbreaker Igniter .
  4. Ignite – use the igniter on the inside of the finished frame. It is used up and the portal opens. On the other side a return portal is built for you. The igniter only reacts to a complete, empty frame, so a misclick never wastes it.

The three layers

Layer Height Blocks Ore Boss
Celestial Heights (top) high sky stone, goldleaf trees, a sea of clouds Caelestine Storm Griffin
Shattered Meadows (middle) middle grass, stone and forest – pieces of our own world Terranite Dragon Mother
Umbral Depths (bottom) low shadow stone, gloomwood, glowing flowers Umbrite Shadow King

Clouds can be walked through. They slow you down like a weak cobweb, but landing on one never hurts.

The creatures of each layer are on Realm Creatures.

Gems, Primordium and plants

  • Umbrite, Terranite and Caelestine each grow only in their own layer. Fortune gives more gems.
  • One of each, in any order, make a Primordium Ingot – the metal for gear upgrades.
  • Gloomberries grow in the dark without light. You can eat and plant them, or dry them in a furnace, smoker or campfire into Dried Gloomberries.
  • Shadebell, Nightbloom, Cloudbloom and Sunstar give dyes. Gloomwood and Goldleaf logs make planks.

Villages

  • Gnome villages (Shattered Meadows) – mushroom houses with gnome beds, fields, a well, a baby dragon pen, lanterns and paths. Gnomes trade: see Realm Creatures.
  • Nymph villages (Celestial Heights) – goldleaf pavilions under domes of golden leaves, flower gardens, a light fountain and a cloud sheep meadow. Nymphs and angels live here.

Village chests can hold the Realm Codex , the realm's guide book.

Shard Sentinel

Round ruins stand on every layer, roughly every 400–600 blocks. At their heart a Sentinel Core wakes a Shard Sentinel – a golem of rubble, dark iron and bone.

  • Slow but very tough. Its slams throw you high into the air, its stomp sends out a shockwave, and below half health it fires volleys of bone shards. It never strays far from its core.
  • Loot: when a player kills it, always a Sentinel Heart , plus gems, Primordium and bones. With a 50% chance also the Primordial Hammer .
  • About one in-game day after it falls, the core builds a new sentinel – but only while no player is near the arena.

Altars

Each layer holds altars of its boss (about one per 32×32 chunks).

  • Find them with the Realm Compass : right-click finds the nearest altar (with its height), sneak + right-click switches between all altars, one altar type, the sentinel arenas or the villages. The compass only works inside the realm.
  • Sigils – eight gems of the altar's layer around a Sentinel Heart make its sigil: Umbral Sigil, Dragon Sigil, Sky Sigil.
  • Summoning – right-click the altar with its sigil. The boss rises after a short charge. Only one boss per altar at a time; nothing happens on Peaceful.
  • Rewards – each realm boss gives every fighter its own raid cache, a placeable trophy and 1–2 Primordium Ingots, and leaves one soul shard per fight (see below). Afterwards the altar resets for the next fight.

The Shadowed Reach

In rare places the three layers give way to open sky. In the middle of such a gap floats a single island of deepslate and blackstone with the Weaver Altar on it. Nothing spawns on this island. The Realm Compass finds it.

Every time the Shadow King, the Dragon Mother or the Storm Griffin falls, it leaves exactly one soul shard – no matter how many fought. Two of each around a Primordium Ingot make the Void Sigil , which calls the Shadow Weaver.
