Keybindings

All of these are changeable in Plaid's settings — pick whichever shortcuts feel natural to you.

Move focus

Jump between windows in the tiling layout.

Shortcut	Action
Super + H	Focus the window to the left
Super + J	Focus the window below
Super + K	Focus the window above
Super + L	Focus the window to the right

Swap windows

Move the focused window into its neighbor's spot.

Shortcut	Action
Super + Shift + H	Swap with the window to the left
Super + Shift + J	Swap with the window below
Super + Shift + K	Swap with the window above
Super + Shift + L	Swap with the window to the right

Resize

Shrink or grow the focused window (40px per press by default).

Super + Ctrl + L	Grow width
Super + Ctrl + J	Shrink height
Super + Ctrl + K	Grow height

Tiling & windows

Super + T	Toggle tiling on/off
Super + Shift + Space	Toggle the focused window between floating and tiled
Super + Shift + M	Maximize within the gaps (toggle)
Super + Shift + C	Center the focused window

Layouts & workspaces

Scratchpad

A private spot to stash windows out of the way.

Shortcut	Action
Super + Escape	Toggle the scratchpad window
Super + Shift + Escape	Stash the focused window into the scratchpad
Super + Ctrl + Shift + Escape	Remove the focused window from the scratchpad

Drop-down terminal

Shortcut	Action
Super + Shift + Enter	Toggle the drop-down terminal

Floating picker

Shortcut	Action
Super + Ctrl + Shift + F	Pick a window to add to the float list

Resize with the mouse

Drag a window's edge or the titlebar to resize or move — no keybind needed. The tiling layout adjusts around you.

Note

Plaid temporarily disables GNOME's built-in edge tiling and maximize shortcuts while it's running. They come back when Plaid is turned off.
