Terminal Settings
Plaid's terminal settings (PTS) let you manage Plaid from the terminal. Sourced
from your shell profile, they provide plaid-<setting> commands for every
setting, plus plaid-settings, plaid-settings-help and plaid-update.
plaid-active-border-width 5 # set a setting, e.g. the active border width
plaid-gap 12 # set the window gap
plaid-settings # list every available setting
plaid-settings-help # full help with types and descriptions
plaid-update # check for a newer Plaid releaseBooleans accept true/false, 1/0, on/off, yes/no. Color/string-array
settings accept a single value or a comma-separated list (e.g.
plaid-active-border-color '#bd93f9','#50fa7b').
Plaid installs the source line automatically based on your shell.
Automatic — no action needed. Plaid injects the source line into ~/.bashrc
on login.
Plaid shows a notice on login with the line to add to ~/.zshrc:
[ -f '/path/to/plaid-terminal-settings.sh' ] && source '/path/to/plaid-terminal-settings.sh'Replace /path/to with the extension's install path
(~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/plaid@plyply99 for a user install).
Automatic — no action needed. Plaid injects a guarded source block into
~/.config/fish/config.fish on login (fish-native plaid-terminal-settings.fish).
The block is idempotent — it never duplicates.
The terminal settings scripts live in the extension directory:
plaid-terminal-settings.sh (bash/zsh) and plaid-terminal-settings.fish (fish).
You can source them manually from any shell:
source ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/plaid@plyply99/plaid-terminal-settings.shsource ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/plaid@plyply99/plaid-terminal-settings.fishSee also: Layouts & Settings for the full settings list.
