Troubleshooting
If something misbehaves, grab the logs — they tell exactly what Plaid was doing:
journalctl -b -o cat | grep '\[plaid\]'Paste the output when you report a bug. It's the single most useful thing you can include.
- Is tiling enabled? Check the switch in settings.
- Is the window in the float list? Check Float rules — anything there stays floating.
- Is the window fullscreen? Fullscreen windows are always left alone.
- Restart the session (log out and back in) to be sure Plaid is loaded fresh.
Some apps declare tiny minimum sizes. Add it under Minimum sizes (format: Title:WIDTHxHEIGHT) so it keeps a comfortable size while tiled.
This should no longer happen — fixed-size Steam popups (sale ads, update notices) are detected automatically and float. If you still see it, grab the journal output and report it.
- Try logging out and back in — the blur library is provisioned on session start.
- Check that window blur is enabled in settings.
Plaid disables GNOME's built-in edge-tiling and maximize shortcuts while active. If something seems stuck, toggle tiling (Super + T) to refresh the layout.
Plaid is tested against multi-monitor setups and values reports from them. If you use multiple monitors and see anything odd, the journal output helps a lot.
Open an issue on GitHub with the journal output and what you were doing — see Contributing.
