Delivery check

When the Picnic crates arrive, this page turns unpacking into booking: check off what is there and it lands in stock in the same motion.

Picking a delivery

Check delivery lists your recent deliveries with date, total and status (On the way, Delivered, Cancelled). Open one to get the checklist of what was ordered.

Products already in your catalogue show with their own picture; the rest use Picnic's.

Three ways to confirm

Scan — hold the barcode to the camera. The line is matched by its Picnic ID, you pick location and best-before date, and Book in & next books one pack and returns to the scanner. This is the way that also captures best-before dates.

The + button on a line books one pack immediately, into the item's default location (or the fallback you chose), without a date. If the line is not in your catalogue yet, it asks where the new item belongs first — see below.

Visual checkConfirm all N open lines books everything still open in one go. Each item goes to its own default location; those without one go to the location you pick in the panel. Fast, but no best-before dates. Lines that are not in your catalogue yet get their own step first — see below.

Unknown products are created for you

If a delivered product is not in your catalogue yet, Proviant creates the item automatically from Picnic — with name, pack size, picture and the Picnic link already set. It asks you for one thing first: the default location the new item belongs to. Until that is set, nothing is created and nothing is booked.

  • Visual checkConfirm all N open lines leads to an extra step: every item that is about to be created is listed with its picture and its own location picker. The confirm button stays disabled while one is still blank, and a note tells you how many are left.
  • The + button and + Item — the question appears directly under the line you tapped. Pick the location, then Create & book in (or Create item, which only adds it to the catalogue).

Why the insistence: an item without a default location has no home. Its stock lands wherever the fallback happens to point, and every later booking has to ask again. One decision while unpacking saves all of them. You can change it any time on the item's page.

EANs are not included; Picnic does not supply them. Scan the item once later and it is complete.

The counter

The bar at the top shows n of m packs checked, where m is what is still expected — packs Picnic has cancelled are not counted. Both buttons change stock:

  • The + button books one pack into stock and raises the counter.
  • The − button books it back out and lowers the counter. It undoes your last booking on that line, taking the pack off the exact batch it went into, so the Journal keeps naming the right location.

If the counter came from somewhere other than this page — after a reload, say — there is no booking left to undo. The − button then only corrects the counter and tells you so. Correct the stock itself in the storage location or via Stocktake.

When everything is checked, the page says so and offers a link back to Stock.

When something is missing

Not everything ordered always arrives. Two cases, handled differently.

Picnic told you in advance. If Picnic cancelled a line — out of stock, the quality was not good enough, or it never made it onto the van — that line no longer counts towards what is expected. It stays visible, marked not delivered with the reason, so you can see what happened instead of wondering why a line vanished. Nothing to do; the delivery can still complete.

Such a line also stops counting as on its way on the Ordering page, so it gets suggested again rather than staying invisible until the next delivery.

It simply did not turn up. Use Finish check — n still open. Proviant lists the packs that are missing and, once you confirm, records them in the Journal as Not delivered. No stock is booked — that is the point: the packs never arrived, so inventing stock for them would be a lie. What you get is a record that they were ordered and did not come, which is what you need when asking Picnic for a refund.

Partial and cancelled deliveries

The delivery list contains no line items; Proviant loads each delivery separately. Open deliveries are determined by exclusion (anything not completed or cancelled), because partial orders can be cancelled individually. If a delivery looks incomplete, that is usually Picnic's own split, not a bug.

What it leaves behind

Every booking lands in the Journal with source Delivery, so you can reconstruct later what came in on which day — including what did not come, if you confirmed a shortfall.
