Welcome to the Wayfinder wiki

Wayfinder is a free app for the AYN Thor, the handheld with two screens.

Two screens, one controller. Wayfinder moves apps between the Thor's screens without restarting them, sends the controller to the screen you want, gives every game its own buttons, and puts the Thor's settings one press away — all without leaving your game.

This wiki explains every part of Wayfinder in simple words. You don't need to know anything about Android to use it.

Wayfinder is an independent project, not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by AYN or any other company named here.

About this wiki: it is written with AI help, checked against the app's code. Keeping a guide this long up to date alone takes a lot of time, so AI does most of the writing. If something here doesn't match what you see in the app, please open an issue — the app is always right.

Words used in this wiki

The Thor has a few buttons and screens with special names. This wiki uses them all the time:

Name What it is
Top screen The Thor's main, bigger screen.
Bottom screen The Thor's second, smaller screen.
Home The Home button of the Thor's controller.
Back The Back button of the Thor's controller.
AYN button The Thor's own shortcut button. Without Wayfinder it opens AYN's drawer; with Wayfinder it opens Wayfinder's Quick panel (you can give it back to AYN's drawer).
The Hub Wayfinder's main screen — the app you open from your app list.
A combo Home, Back or the AYN button, plus another button (for example Home + X).

Button letters (A, B, X, Y) in this wiki are the letters printed on the Thor. If you set Wayfinder to show the Xbox names or the PlayStation symbols, the names on screen can be different (see The controller).

Where to go

Start here

  • Getting started — install Wayfinder, the welcome tour, the Hub, what it asks for, what "Ready" means.
  • Features & simple setup — just the screen switcher, or everything; turn parts on or off.

Everyday use

  • Two screens — move and swap apps, "Opens on", app pairs, recent apps, closing apps, Home on one screen or both.
  • The controller — which screen the controller works on, combos, the Hold-Home cheat sheet, the AYN button, the input layer, emergency off.
  • Quick panel — the panel you open with the AYN button: brightness, volume, performance, shortcut tiles (also tiles that open an app, an app pair or a Wayfinder page).
  • Screens, brightness & sound — the Screens page (brightness, bottom screen off, colour) and the Sound page (volume per screen, speaker fix, headphones & Bluetooth EQ, volume boost).

For games

  • Game controls — Home + X: change a game's buttons, sticks, gyro, macros and chords, per app and per game.
  • Keyboard & mouse — Home + Y: keys and a trackpad on the other screen, plus the Wayfinder Keyboard (with emoji and a clipboard).
  • Games — settings for one game or app: its screen, performance, controller and lights.
  • Guide & notes — a game guide and your own notes, next to the game.

Your Thor

  • Stick lights — the lights around the sticks.
  • Sleep & battery — the Battery page: what the Thor draws now, charging (80 % limit, direct power), sleep & standby.
  • Appearance — theme, your own colours, glass, which screen Wayfinder opens on, hints & pop-ups.
