Features and simple setup

Features & simple setup

Wayfinder does a lot. If you only want it to switch apps between the screens, you can turn the rest off. Nothing is deleted — turn a part back on and it comes back as it was.

The setup question

Wayfinder asks you once what you want it for. There are two answers:

Choice What you get
Just switching screens Move and swap apps, Recents, Home on each screen.
Everything The same, plus combos, the quick panel, game controls and stick lights.

Where it asks:

  • New install: in the welcome tour, step 2 — What do you want Wayfinder for? (see Getting started).
  • After an update: once, on the Hub, a small card says New: make Wayfinder simpler? It has three buttons: Just switching screens, Everything and Keep it as it is. The card goes away when you press one.

Updating changes none of your settings. Every part stays on until you choose.

You can change your answer any time: More → Features.

What "Just switching screens" does

It keeps the screen switcher and turns the rest off:

  • More combos — off. Only the screen-switching combos work. Your other combos are kept for later.
  • Quick panel — off. The AYN button opens AYN's own drawer again.
  • Game controls — off. The input layer is set to Nowhere: games get the Thor's controller as it is.
  • Keyboard & mouse — off.
  • Stick lights — off. AYN's own lights are left untouched.
  • The "Your controls" sheet on the bottom screen — off.

What still works (it is always on):

  • move and swap apps, Recents, Home on each screen, the controller between the screens, and app pairs;
  • these combos: Back, Recent apps, Close background apps, Move / swap apps, Controller to the top / bottom screen, Lock the controller, Home on the top / bottom / both screens, Home on the controller's screen, Close this app, Close the other screen's app, Bottom screen off / on, and your "Open an app, a pair or a page" combos.

The Hub then has no Quick panel card, and More has no Stick lights row. In the tour, the quick panel step is skipped.

What "Everything" does

Every part is on again:

  • your combos all work again,
  • the AYN button opens the quick panel,
  • the "Your controls" sheet comes back as it was,
  • the input layer comes back: to what it was before you chose "Just switching screens" — or, if there's nothing to go back to, Only games I set up.

The Features page

Go to More → Features — make Wayfinder simpler. The row shows "everything on", or how many parts are turned off.

At the top: the same two buttons, Just switching screens and Everything.

Always on: Screen switching — move and swap apps, Recents, Home on each screen, the controller between screens, app pairs.

Parts — one switch each:

Part On Off
More combos Screenshots, brightness and volume, Game controls, Keyboard & mouse… on Home + a button. Only the screen-switching combos work. Your other combos are kept for later.
Quick panel The AYN button opens Wayfinder's panel. The AYN button opens AYN's own drawer.
Game controls Each game its own buttons, gyro and macros. Turning it back on puts the input layer back where it ran before (Everywhere if there's nothing to go back to). The input layer is set to Nowhere: games get the Thor's controller as it is.
Keyboard & mouse Keys, a trackpad and the game's guide on the other screen (Home + Y). Off. Its tile is hidden from the quick panel.
Stick lights Wayfinder's effects and colours. AYN's own lights, untouched.

Good to know

  • The Quick panel switch here is the same setting as The AYN button opens the quick panel on the Quick panel page. While it's off, the Hub has no Quick panel card, so turn it back on here.
  • The Game controls switch is the same setting as the input layer's where it runs (see The controller). For Everywhere, choose it there.
  • When Game controls is off, the Game controls and Gyro tiles are hidden from the quick panel.
