Stick lights
The Thor has lights (rings) around its two sticks. Wayfinder can colour them — for every app, or differently for one app or one game.
Open Wayfinder → More → Stick lights ("The rings around the sticks — for every app"). Every change shows on the sticks right away.
| Effect | What it does |
|---|---|
| AYN default (default) | Leaves AYN's own lighting alone. |
| Off | Lights off. |
| Colour | One steady colour. |
| Breathing | A colour that slowly fades in and out. |
| Strobe | A flashing colour. |
| Spectrum | All the colours of the rainbow. |
| Screen colour | The rings follow the colours of the game's screen. It reads the screen several times a second, so it costs a little battery (measured: about 0.3 W, around 10 % at rest); the other effects cost almost nothing. |
Depending on the effect, you get:
- Same colour on both sticks — on: one colour. Off: pick Left stick or Right stick and give each its own colour.
- Colour — pick one of the colour dots, use the colour wheel (touch it, or press A on the wheel and steer it with the stick), or type a hex code (like #FF8800) in the box next to the wheel.
- Speed — for Breathing, Strobe and Spectrum (left slower, right faster).
- Brightness — from 1 % to 100 %, for every effect except AYN default and Off.
- Follow the screens' brightness (off by default) — the rings dim and brighten with the screens. The Brightness slider is then how bright they are with the screens at full. They follow the brighter of the two screens (a screen that Wayfinder turned off doesn't count) and catch up within a couple of seconds.
For Screen colour:
- Each stick its own side — left ring = the left half of the screen, right ring = the right half. Off: both rings show the whole screen's main colour.
- Colour from — Controller's screen (the screen with the controller), Top screen or Bottom screen. Tip: in a DS game, the bottom screen is often menus — pick Top screen.
- Wayfinder → Games → the app. (If you don't see Stick lights, press Change something for app.)
- Under Stick lights, choose Own, then Edit ›.
- Set the lights on the page "Stick lights · app".
The lights change while that app has the controller. To go back, turn on Use my usual lights on that page, or choose Usual on the Games page.
In the game, press Home + X → Performance › → Stick lights: Usual, Off, Colour, Breathing, Spectrum, Screen or AYN default. The colours come from the app's own lights, or from your usual ones. See Game controls.
- Light settings — opens the Stick lights page.
- Stick lights — turns the lights off, and back on to the lighting you had.
- With two apps on the screens, the lights follow the app that has the controller.
- If Wayfinder can't find the lights, the page says "No stick lights found".
- If you turn Stick lights off in More → Features, Wayfinder leaves AYN's own lights untouched, and Stick lights disappears from the More page. See Features & simple setup.
