Guide & notes

Guide & notes puts a game guide and your own notes next to your game — on the other screen.

• Guide — a small web browser. It starts on a web search for your game's guide ("game map guide"), or on a page you pinned.
• Notes — a notepad for this game: quests, codes, where you left off… It saves as you type.

Inside an emulator, each game has its own pinned page and notes, and the search uses the game's name.

Apart from the once-a-day update check and the Ko-fi link, this is the only part of Wayfinder that uses the internet (see Privacy & permissions).

Three ways to open it

1. The Guide & notes page (bottom screen)

A full page with two tabs, Guide and Notes. On the Guide tab: ‹ (go back a page) and 📌 Pin (keep this page for this game; press again to unpin). ✕ closes it.

Open it from:

• Wayfinder → Games → the app → Guide & notes on the bottom screen → Open now ›. (If you don't see it, press Change something for app.)
• Automatically: on the Games page, set Guide & notes on the bottom screen to Guide & notes. Then, when that app comes to the top screen and the bottom screen is free (on its home screen, and not turned off), the guide opens there by itself.

2. The Guide tab of Keyboard & mouse

Press Home + Y in any game, then the Guide tab (a book icon). It shows the guide and your notes — even over a dual-screen game's second screen.

• Guide / Notes switch tabs. Here the notes are read-only.
• ‹ Back goes back a page, 📌 Pin pins it.
• Full page opens the full Guide & notes page, where you can edit your notes.

3. The Guide & notes action

The action Guide & notes opens just the guide and notes, on the other screen. If there's no free second screen, it opens as a panel beside the game. Press it again to close it.

It has no combo by default. You can:

• give it a combo in Controller → Combos,
• give it to the AYN button (tap or hold),
• add the Guide & notes tile to the Quick panel.

Pinned guides work offline

When you pin a page, Wayfinder saves a copy of it. With no connection (or if the site fails), the pinned guide opens from that copy.

If a page can't load, you see "The guide page couldn't load" with Retry. Check the Thor's Wi-Fi — some networks need you to sign in on a login page first.

Fewer ads

The guide doesn't load well-known ad and tracking networks (about 75 of them). Most ads simply don't appear, and the page itself still loads. This works everywhere the guide shows (the full page, the action and the Keyboard & mouse tab). There's nothing to set.

A site's own banners, and ads from a network that isn't on the list, can still show.
