Its sidebar was solid royal blue — the largest block of colour on the Desk, in a theme meant to be quiet charcoal. It is now graphite and flat, with a deep blue active item that ties it to the blue buttons and links, and the login panel follows. Text reads at 15:1 on the sidebar and 9:1 on the active item. If you had retuned its sidebar yourself, your choice is kept.

One look from the sign-in screen to the Desk

The login page's panel is now painted in the colour a theme is known by: its sidebar colour when the theme has a Solid or Gradient sidebar, otherwise its accent, with a glow of the button colour beside the Sign In button. Before, it followed the accent alone, so a theme like Cyberpunk Neon — magenta on the Desk, cyan links — signed people in on a teal panel. Theme Studio's View Login preview follows the same rule.

Cyberpunk Neon, calmer

The sidebar is a deep violet gradient instead of full magenta with a wave, the active item a muted magenta that matches the buttons, and the links stay cyan: dark base, neon accents. Every pair clears WCAG AA with room to spare. If you had already retuned its sidebar yourself, your choice is kept.

Readable "switched-on" buttons

The Filters button, and any other light-primary button, is a wash of the accent with the theme's own text colour, instead of a gray block with an accent-coloured count.

Sidebar skins

The sidebar was the plainest part of the Desk. A theme can now paint it Tinted, Solid or Gradient, with an optional wave pattern, and colour each sidebar icon by module — Accounting blue, Selling green, Buying orange, HR teal and so on. Most bundled themes come with a skin; tune yours in Theme Studio under Customize → Sidebar, with a live preview. The contrast check covers the sidebar too — its text against the background, the far end of a gradient and the highlighted item — so every combination stays readable. Plain themes and Frappe's own look leave the sidebar exactly as it was. On Frappe 15 the skin paints the top bar.

The mini rail

Ctrl+Shift+B (⌘⇧B on a Mac), Frappe's own chevron or Ctrl+/ fold the sidebar down to its icons. Hover the rail to peek at the labels over the page, without the page moving. The choice is saved for your account, so it follows you to every device. On Frappe 15 the same shortcut folds the side column of the page you are on.

An optional home page

Tick Use the Nexus Home Page in Theme Settings and the Desk opens on a greeting, shortcuts (Create New, Reports, Notifications) and a tile for every workspace the person can open, with a count of their open to-dos. Only what the sidebar would already show; off by default, and unticking it brings Frappe's own landing straight back.

Everyone sees a short "What's new" card once after the upgrade.

Fixes

• The mini rail now hooks Frappe 16's sidebar after the Desk has finished starting, so Frappe's own chevron and Ctrl+/ are saved too.
• The home page's per-user cache works on Frappe 15.

The Desk from the keyboard: the Command Palette

Press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+P anywhere on the Desk and type. Open any record type, report, page or workspace, jump back to something you had open a moment ago, search documents, switch your theme or density, mute sounds, open the studios — without the mouse. Matching is forgiving (sal inv finds Sales Invoice, new sal inv starts one), and the palette only ever shows what you are allowed to open. On Frappe 16 the shortcut used to focus the search bar; Ctrl+G still opens global search. Other apps can add their own commands with NexusCommandPalette.register().

Room to breathe, or less of it: Density modes

Compact, Comfortable or Spacious, under the preview in Theme Studio or from the palette. Compact fits about a fifth more rows on the screen for people who live in lists and grids; Spacious gives forms more air. Vertical spacing only, independent of the theme, per person, and an administrator picks the site's starting point with Default Density in Theme Settings. Comfortable is exactly the spacing you have today, so installing 2.0 changes nothing until someone chooses.

Everyone hears about it once

After the upgrade, each person sees a short "What's new" card on their first sign-in, with a button to each new feature. It never comes back for patch releases, and it can be reopened from the palette.

Fixes from a full review of the app

• Nobody can create or change another person's theme or sound preference through the REST API; a Theme User cannot mark a theme as bundled, share it when sharing is off, or read other people's private themes.
• Two people may give their themes the same name; importing never overwrites a theme you already have.
• Automatic light/dark keeps separate colour overrides for each half, and Theme Studio opens on the overrides already saved instead of wiping them. A dark palette applied over a light theme switches the Desk's polarity with it.
• Custom sounds play from the first page load; the notification sound plays; Default and Clear no longer silence an event until reload; the login chime plays once per sign-in; turning Allow User Sounds off no longer mutes Frappe's own sounds.
• Toasts are readable on dark themes; the active sidebar item is styled on Frappe 16; the login page works right-to-left; the navbar logo shows on Frappe 16.
• The Permission Inspector no longer removes a rule's other rights when its last basic right is unticked, refuses to orphan field-level rules, and reports own-only and shared access honestly.
• Private files chosen as favicon or logo are skipped on the login page, with a warning in Theme Settings.

The sign-in screen has its own name and logo

Two new fields in Theme Settings → Login Page: Login Brand Name and Login Brand Logo. Left empty they fall back to the Navbar Logo and the site's own app name, exactly as before, so nothing changes unless you fill them in.

See the login page without signing out

Theme Studio has a new View Login button. It opens a preview of the sign-in screen drawn with the theme you have selected and the words you have written, so you can judge a theme against the login page before anyone else sees it. Pick another theme and press it again to compare. The button works whether or not the login page is switched on.

Housekeeping

Every stylesheet in the app had a byte-identical twin, and only one of each pair was ever built, so an edit to the other silently did nothing. The duplicates are gone and the built file is now the only copy.

New: an optional login page

/login can now be a two-column sign-in screen: your logo and the form on the left, a coloured panel carrying your own words on the right. It is painted from the site's theme, so it matches the Desk people are signing in to, and a visitor who already picked a theme of their own sees the page in that theme.

Switch it on under Theme Settings → Login Page. It is off by default, so installing or updating the app changes nothing about your sign-in screen until you decide.

• Your headline, paragraph, up to six ticked points, an optional figure, a subtitle and a footer line, all typed in Theme Settings.
• Logo from Navbar Logo, panel picture from Login Background.
• Password sign-in, the error banner, forgot password, sign-up, login with an email link, social logins, LDAP and two-factor all keep working: the page loads Frappe's own login script and keeps every element it uses.
• Remember me remembers your username on that device. It does not change how long you stay signed in.
• On a phone the panel steps aside and the form fills the screen.
• Untick the switch and Frappe's own page is back at once. If the page ever cannot render, Frappe's own page is served automatically.

Nothing in Frappe, ERPNext or any other app is modified. The page is registered through Frappe's supported hook for app-provided routes, and it answers for /login alone.

Fixes

• The Permission Inspector page now lives at /app/nexus-permission-inspector. Frappe 16 ships its own single-document form called Permission Inspector, and the Desk sent /app/permission-inspector to that form instead of the Nexus Theme page. The workspace shortcut, sidebar and README point at the new address, and a patch removes the old page record on existing sites.
• In the inspector, typing a name in the person box now lists matching people, and picking one no longer clears the view.
