This project is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Sony Interactive Entertainment. PlayStation and PS5 are trademarks of Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc., named only to describe the file format the tool reads.
- It reads only unencrypted data. Retail packages, encrypted filesystems and encrypted executable segments are refused, never bypassed.
- It contains no Sony code, keys or signatures. The Kraken decoder is a port of GPL-licensed open-source code (see Credits).
- It does not get around copy protection. Kraken is a compression format, and unwrapping a fake-signed SELF only copies segments that are already plain.
- Its purpose is interoperability: letting an independently written program (AnyPS5) load software packaged for another system.
Use the tool only with packages you built yourself or are otherwise entitled to use. You are responsible for complying with the copyright laws and licence agreements that apply to you.
The project will not host, link to or help obtain game content. Issues or pull requests that do so will be closed.
pkg-to-anyps5 is licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later.
The NAPS and inner-image formats and the Kraken decoder follow PS5PCEM (src/pkg/), which in turn follows LibProsperoPKG. Both are GPL-3.0. AnyPS5 is GPL-2.0-only; the two are separate programs, and this tool only runs the relinker as a separate process.
