Troubleshooting

The tool never guesses: any inconsistency stops the run with a message. Messages starting with invalid package: mean the data does not match the format; unsupported package: means the data is valid but uses a feature this tool does not implement.

Package type

Message Meaning
not a PS5 package: magic [...] The file does not start with \x7FFIH. It is not a PS5 package, or it is truncated or corrupted.
a bare CNT package (PS4 style) has no PS5 PFS image This is a PS4 package. Use a PS4 tool.
retail package (signed byte 0x80); only debug packages are readable Retail packages are encrypted. This tool does not and will not decrypt them.
the outer PFS is encrypted (its seed is not PPRPLAIN-NOAUTH!) Same: the filesystem needs a key.
SELF segment N is encrypted / compressed The executable inside is encrypted or uses a compressed SELF. Only fake-signed, plain SELFs are supported.

Damaged or incomplete files

Message Meaning
read of 0x… bytes at 0x… is past the end of the 0x…-byte package The .pkg is truncated. Check the file size against the source (a partial download or a full disk).
NAPS blocks cover … bytes, but the mount size is … The block map does not match the image: corrupted or truncated package.
malformed Kraken data in the block at logical 0x… A compressed block does not decode. Usually corruption; the block offsets help if you report it.
refusing to write the unsafe package path "…" / CNT entry … has the unsafe name A file name inside the package tries to leave the output folder (.. or an absolute path). The package is malformed or hostile. Do not work around this.

Not implemented yet

Message Meaning
unsupported Kraken entropy type 1 (or 3, 5) tANS, RLE and recursive entropy blocks are not implemented. Please open an issue with the package's content ID.
inner PFS mode 0x… (only the flat 0x10 layout is known) The inner image uses an unknown layout. Please open an issue.
the outer PFS has no naps_pkg_layout.dat Images without a NAPS layout are not supported.
two NAPS CblockInfo placements both map the whole image; refusing to guess An ambiguous layout. Please open an issue.

Usage and environment

Message Meaning
warning: --relink … is no longer maintained --relink is deprecated and will be removed in v1. It still works; to silence the warning, run the relinker yourself, see Running with AnyPS5.
no relinker at …/core/relinker/relinker (or relinker.exe) --relink (deprecated) must point at the AnyPS5 build directory, not the source checkout.
the relinker failed (exit status: …) The relinker ran and failed; its own output just above says why.
no app0/ file matches --only … The path does not exist in the package. Paths are relative to the game root; check with --list.
write …: No space left on device Not enough space. The file being written is removed; free space and re-run into a fresh directory.

Reporting a bug

Open an issue with the tool version (--version), the full command and output, and the --list header lines (package size, FIH, outer PFS, inner image). Never attach or link game files.
