Installation

This page walks you through getting GenRaid Setup running on your own server.

Requirements

Before you start, make sure you have the following:

  • A machine or host that can run a Paper Minecraft server
  • Paper 1.21.11 (this exact version is required, see Compatibility)
  • Java 21 or newer
  • Enough RAM to comfortably run a fully built 300x300 arena. 6GB or more is recommended.

Steps

  1. Stop your server if it is already running.
  2. Extract the provided files directly into your server's root folder. Do not place them inside a subfolder. The root folder should end up containing the plugin jar, the plugins folder, and the world folders directly, not nested one level down.
  3. Check eula.txt and make sure it reads eula=true. Without this, the server will not start.
  4. Start the server once. This lets every plugin generate its full file structure and connect to its own data files. Some settings will not appear until this first boot has happened.
  5. Stop the server again before making any changes. Editing config files while the server is running can cause your changes to be overwritten when the server saves.
  6. Follow the Rebranding Guide before you go any further. This step is not optional, see that page for details.
  7. Start the server again. From here, everything is already configured. You do not need to run any setup commands.

A Note on First Boot

The first time you start the server, it may take longer than usual to load. This is normal. Paper is generating internal caches, and several plugins are building their own data files for the first time. Do not stop the server early because it seems to be taking a while, especially on the first launch.

What To Do Next

Once your server has started successfully, move on to the First Steps Checklist. This walks you through confirming everything is actually working before you open the server to real players.
