World Protection and Regions
GenRaid Setup uses a three tier WorldGuard region system to keep spawn safe while still allowing full raiding across the rest of the map. This page explains how it is structured and how to avoid the most common testing mistake.
| Region | Priority | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
spawnpillar |
10 | The elevated safe zone reached through /spawn. Fully invincible, no PvP, no building. |
spawngrid |
5 | A 3x3 grid directly beneath the pillar. Building is still disabled, but invincibility is stripped and PvP is forced on. This is the drop in point where players land after leaving the pillar. |
map |
0 | The main play zone. Full PvP, full building, full raiding. |
Higher priority always wins where regions overlap. The spawn pillar sits above the drop grid, which sits above the open arena. If you ever add your own regions, keep this order in mind, a new region with a higher priority than intended can accidentally override protection you meant to keep.
These rules are enforced through the base building system and are what keep raiding fair across the whole map.
- Vertical stacking is capped at 4 tiers per base.
- Horizontal merging is capped at 4 plots per base.
- 1 plot buffer alleyways are required between unallied mega bases, so there is always room to stage and fire a cannon.
- Underground bunkers must have either an exposed face or a destructible ceiling hatch. Fully sealed, unreachable bunkers are not allowed.
- Sky bases must have at least 50 percent glass roof coverage, so they cannot be built as unassailable camping spots.
This is the single most common source of confusion when first setting up this server, so read this section carefully.
If you test your server while logged in as OP, or while using the Owner or Manager rank, you will be able to break protected blocks freely, even though protection is configured correctly.
This happens because OP status, and any rank carrying LuckPerms' wildcard permission *, silently includes worldguard.region.bypass, the exact permission that lets someone ignore region protection entirely. Nothing is broken. The bypass is working as designed, you just happened to be testing with an account that has it.
To properly test that your regions are protecting the map:
- Log in with an account that is not OP and does not have the Owner or Manager rank.
- Try breaking a block inside the arena's protected material list, or inside the spawn pillar or drop grid.
- Confirm it is denied.
If you specifically need to check whether bypass itself is the reason a test succeeded, run this:
/lp user <yourname> permission check worldguard.region.bypass.<worldname>
If that returns true, that is your answer. Test again with a genuinely unprivileged account.
If protection still seems wrong after testing with a proper non-OP account, check the region's flags directly.
/rg info <regionname>
Confirm the build flag is set to DENY for non-members. If it shows ALLOW, someone likely changed it while testing something else and forgot to change it back.
