Translation Management
An integrated translation management system is provided to allow users to translate the content and questionnaires on the site. The Translation Management Module provides an interface that allows translation tasks to be setup as tasks for users on the Website. As noted in the permissions system, we allow Project Managers, Doctors, Nurses and Coordinators to provide translations. Project Managers can setup translation tasks. See Multilingual Capability page to read more about the permissions that are setup for this task.
In order to setup a translation task, we first click to the translate tab of the content or the questionnaire.

As can be seen in the screenshot below, we can select the language which we want the content / questionnaire to be translated into. Click on Request Translation button to start the process after selecting the language of choice.

As can be seen in the screenshot below, the interface allows us to:
- Provide a title of choice for the translation task . This can be descriptive like "Translation of the EORTC QLQ BR23 Template" to help the translator with the task.
- It shows the number of words that need translation as well as the HTML tags - note that the tags should not be translated.
- It allows us to choose who will do the translation. It is entirely possible to setup a system where external paid providers can provision the translation tasks. But at the basic level, a designated user of the website can provide translation. Alternatively, translations can be uploaded using a file.
- A particular user can be chosen for the translation task. Note that the translation task can be assigned to different persons based on the language proficiency also.
- Clicking the Submit to Provider button allows you to save the translation task following which it will become available for the translater to add the translation on the website.

The Translation Page allows you to View job items as well as review existing translations. Note that this system can be used to setup a system where one user translates a content / questionnaire and another reviews the translation.

The Job items page will show you all the translation tasks. Note that you have to chosee the States dropdown as -Any- to show all tasks. You can also choose to see tasks that are open or that need review and so on. Filtering by target language is also possible so the translater can see the tasks that are available in the language they are proficient with.

The Jobs page will show you the jobs that need translation. In this click on Manage to start the translation work. Note icons below the content will show you the current status. As can be seen in the screenshot below, The test wbeform is partly translated in the Bengali language (indicated by a sandtimer icon whilst the Hindi translation is not started as indicated by the red triangle icon.

Finally clicking on the View button allows you to start interface that allows translation. Translated text strings can be pasted into the respective boxes. The source language (in this case english) is shown on the left side and the language to be translated is to be entered into the right. After entering the translation, do not forget to validate the translation as well as validate the HTML tags by clicking on the appropriate button and then click on save to save the translation. In the screenshot below will show the translation being done in Hindi language.

After clicking the save button the translation moves to the review stage and can be reviewed by another user. This is usually a good practice as it allows translations to be checked before being made live on the site. However in case of questionnaires with validated translations, this step can be just to check the spellings of the text against the source translations made available.

In the Jobs page now the same task is shown with a Orange triangle which indicates that this is a task that is available for review. Click the manage button to start the review process.

Click the small tick button on the left of the translation box to validate the translation. You will note that the orange icon on the left of the field will change to a tick which indicates that this translation has been validated. Once all of the translations have been checked. Please click the Save as Completed button to save the translation and make it available on the website.

Now the translated content / questionnaire will be shown on the site to all users who have access to view the content.
