Webform Settings

Each Webform has several settings that be combined to add multiple functionalities to the questionnaire. We generally recommend that you take a look at the detailed help to understand these settings in detail. A broad overview is being presented here.

General settings

These allow you to set up the title, a description etc along with some advanced setting. We recommend you do not use Ajax as it may result in aberrant behaviour of the form.

Form

This page has details on how the form should appear. You can choose to keep this form closed or open. A closed form will not be available for submission. You can schedule a form to open or close on a specific date also. Messages that tell the responder that a form is open or closed can be customized here as well. Note that these text strings can be translated also. See the Setting Up Questionnaires page for details on how to translate the questionnaire.

You can also choose to display certain things on the form like a Reset button, disable the back button and so on. It is usually fine to leave the default settings unless you really know what you are doing. In the form wizard / cards setting you can choose to not show the Wizard/Cards progress as it can be more overwhelming on questionnaires with more than 10 questions.

Submissions

Allows you to customise the submission for example adding a certain label to a submission, showing notifications about previous submission, allowing users to duplicate previous submission (quite nifty but not recommended for a PROM) and also how many times the person can submit the answers. This is very helpful in studies where you know there will be a defined number of submissions for a questionnaire. In the setting you can chose to restrict a time over which submissions can be done (for example if submitting a EORTC form you can restrict submission to a week so that users can only submit the form again if 7 days have passed from the first submission).

Confirmation

This allows you to customise what will happen after a form is submitted. You can choose to redirect users to a specific link or page for example so that one questionnaire can be placed after another is completed.

Emails / Handlers

This section allows you to define if emails are to be sent as notifications when a questionnaire has been completed by a responder. You can also add an entity handler here to store the results of the questionnaire into a separate dataset.

Access

This section allows you to resctrict the use of the questionnaires. As a minimum we recommend that permission to create submissions on the form be restricted to patients when patient reported outcomes questionnaires are designed. You can select a specific user at this page also. Please see the Setting Up Questionnaires page and the Webform Permissions page to understand more on this.
