NcDavTray

NcDavTray

Map your Nextcloud to a real Windows drive letter and keep it healthy. NcDavTray is a small tray application written in Windows PowerShell 5.1 + WinForms, with a little embedded C# for the shell notifications. It needs no administrator rights for its normal work, no runtime, and nothing installed system-wide.

Tip

TL;DR — Download the release ZIP, run Installer.cmd, pick Installed or Portable. Add a mount from the tray: either a Nextcloud account (server, user, app password) or a public share link. NcDavTray maps it to a drive letter, gives it an Explorer label and icon, and remounts it whenever the server comes back. Several mounts run side by side — see Server identities for the one Windows limit that matters.

🚀 Where to go from here

Installing itInstallation covers both modes, the requirements, and how updates and uninstall work.

Setting it upMounts is the central page: what a mount is, the two kinds, drive letters, labels, subfolders, and how to enable or disable one without deleting it. Share links goes into public links specifically.

Understanding what you seeThe tray explains the manager icon, the per-mount icons, what their shapes and colours mean, and every menu entry.

⚠️ The one thing to read early

Windows keeps one login per server identity, and NcDavTray can present at most two identities per host. That is a Windows limit, not an application one, and it is the single most common surprise when setting up more than two mounts against the same Nextcloud.

Important

If you plan more than two mounts on the same server, read Server identities before you configure them. It explains what Windows counts, why error 1219 appears, and which combinations work.

🕰️ Coming from NcDavTray 1.x?

Version 2 changed the configuration model: a single account became a list of mounts. Your existing setup is migrated on first start, and nothing is lost.

🤝 Getting help

Something broken, something unclear, or an idea? Troubleshooting covers the error numbers and the states that only look like errors. If that does not settle it, open an issue with the output of the diagnostics script — the answer will come much faster.
