No translation offer on an English page: Chrome offered to translate layerling on every load and Next.js reported a hydration error, even with everything in English. The page holds a hidden copy of the welcome guide in English and German for search engines; Chrome took the German half for a page to translate and marked while doing so. That hidden text is now kept out of translation, and a mark on no longer causes an error. Reported by @gogades in #191.
Drag the pivot with the mouse: The pivot marker can now be dragged. It slides over the surface of the bodies and snaps to corners, edge midpoints and edges, and where it is let go it is set as usual - kept with a single body, saved and undoable. Asked for by @prmod3d and @rjacobs1969 in #140.
Calmer edge lines: With "Edge lines on all bodies" switched on, every crease from 25° got a near-black line, so a thread or a knurled grip turned into a dark mass and every body had a hard frame. The lines are now drawn at half strength, and a body with a texture of many small faces only keeps its real outline, such as the rims of its ends.
Axis letters stay behind bodies: The X, Y and Z of the axis arrows showed through any body standing in front of them.
Stroke for sketches: A sketch could only become a filled area. The new Stroke button in the sketch's Finish section builds the line itself with a width: a closed outline becomes a frame - its wall centred on the line, inside or outside it, so a 0.2 mm stroke outside a dovetail hole gives the print its tolerance - and an open line becomes a stripe with flat, square or round ends. Corners can be sharp, round or bevelled, the sketch shows the result while drawing, and it keeps the drawn line so line and stroke stay editable. Through MCP, layerling_create_shape takes a stroke for a sketch. Asked for by @jrs94yj and @luk-saw in #154.
Softer shadows, light from any direction, more contrast: Even at full contrast and shadow strength the view stayed paler than Tinkercad, the shadows had hard edges, and the light always came from the front right at about 45°. The contrast slider now reaches much further at its top end, and the settings have three new sliders: shadow softness, the light's direction round the plate and its height, up to straight above as in Tinkercad, so the shadows fall right under the bodies. A button resets light and shadows. Everything starts as before. Asked for by @prmod3d in #143.
Axis arrows at the front left corner: Since Y counts towards the back, the arrows at the back left corner pointed Y off the plate. They now stand at the front left corner, where X and Y both run along the plate's edges; the plate's name moves along to make room. Suggested by @hs-20251111 in #182.
A workplane on a corner or an edge, and a grid that runs straight: On a face the workplane always snapped to the grid, and on a lying face its grid took the direction of whichever triangle was clicked, so it often sat at an odd angle. A click close to a corner of the face now puts it exactly on that corner; close to an edge it lies on the edge and the grid runs along it, which is the way to pick another angle on purpose. Otherwise the grid on a lying face runs parallel to the body. In the sketch, a point set or dragged close to a corner of another body's outline shown underneath snaps onto it, marked with a small ring - so edges of other bodies can be used in a sketch. Asked for by @RobbieKnobbie in #189.
Stretch a sketch shape one way, or keep its proportions: The frame round a selected sketch shape had handles at the corners only, and those always changed width and height together - on a rectangle they even sat under the corner points and could not be grabbed. The frame now stands a little off the shape with eight handles: the sides stretch one way only, the corners both ways, keeping the proportions while Shift is held. The width and height pills can be clicked to type a size, also as a calculation or in percent. Asked for by @kjkoz in #168.
A workplane on the plate where you click: Placing the workplane on the empty plate always put it back in the middle, so a finished sketch - a revolved body especially - landed in the middle of the plate, often inside other parts. A click on the plate now puts the workplane at that spot (on the snap grid), and new shapes and sketch bodies appear there, as in Tinkercad. A click beside the plate still resets it. Asked for by @prmod3d in #178.
All three angles a point changes: With a corner point selected in a sketch, the angles at its two neighbouring corners are shown too, since moving the point changes them as well, and each one can be clicked and typed - so the bottom left corner can be set while the top left point, which moves for it, is selected. A typed angle may be a calculation like "90-14.5". Asked for by @prmod3d in #149.
The view stays where it was after a sketch: Leaving the sketch view put the 3D view back to its start position and zoom, so it had to be turned back by hand. It now looks where it looked before the sketch, in the same projection. Reported by @prmod3d in #150.
Calculate in number fields: Besides "45/3", which happened to work, every number field now takes +, -, * (or x) and brackets, e.g. "153", "120-24" or "(40+2)/2"; a decimal comma works inside a calculation too. Asked about by @prmod3d in #180.
