Enhanced Notes Wiki

Welcome to the Enhanced Notes wiki! Enhanced Notes is a Zotero plugin designed to expand the capabilities of native Zotero notes and sync them seamlessly to external applications (like Obsidian).

This is an independently maintained fork of windingwind's original zotero-better-notes plugin, reusing substantial portions of that codebase — full credit to windingwind for the original plugin. Enhanced Notes introduces a sandboxed Liquid template engine, native annotation color labels, multiple notes per item, automatic 3-way sync merge, and cleaner Obsidian exports.

Enhanced Notes is not affiliated with or endorsed by windingwind — please file Enhanced Notes-specific issues and questions on this repo's issue tracker, not upstream.

Installation

  1. Download the latest enhanced-notes.xpi from the releases page.
  2. In Zotero, go to Tools → Plugins.
  3. Click the gear icon in the top right and select Install Plugin From File.
  4. Select the downloaded .xpi file and restart Zotero.
