Sub‐Plots
A sub-plot is a 3D space cut out of a city's land. It is made of boxes, may reach across several plots of the same city, and has its own owner, members and rules.
Inside a sub-plot its rules replace the plot's.
Shaping, handing out and removing sub-plots needs the CITY_SUBPLOT_MANAGE permission. The mayor
has it; give it to a rank to let others manage them too. Existing servers get the permission added to
the mayor's group automatically on the first start of the version that introduced it.
The owner of a sub-plot can manage its members and rules without that permission.
/subplot wand
gives you the sub-plot wand. Switch its mode with the tool-mode key (F by default):
| Mode | Left click | Right click |
|---|---|---|
| Corners | First corner | Second corner |
| Add | First corner | Second corner, and the box is added to the sub-plot |
| Cut | First corner | Second corner, and the box is cut out of the sub-plot |
| Pick | Click a sub-plot to choose it for the next commands |
The marked box is highlighted green when it would be accepted and red when it would not; the chat line says why (outside the city, overlaps another sub-plot, too big, and so on).
/subplot pos1 - first corner at the block you look at
/subplot pos2 - second corner
/subplot clearsel - forget the corners
/subplot create <name> - a new sub-plot from the marked box
/subplot addbox [name] - add the marked box
/subplot cutbox [name] - cut the marked box out
/subplot delete [name] - remove the sub-plot
/subplot info [name] - everything about it
/subplot list - the sub-plots of your city
The name can be left out in every command that ends in [name]: then the sub-plot you look at
is used, or the one you stand in, or the one you picked with the wand.
Limits (server settings, 0 = none where it makes sense):
| Limit | Default | Setting |
|---|---|---|
| Boxes in one sub-plot | 8 | SUBPLOT_MAX_BOXES |
| Sub-plots per city | 50 | SUBPLOT_MAX_PER_CITY |
| Sub-plots one player may own | 3 | SUBPLOT_MAX_OWNED_PER_PLAYER |
| Largest volume, blocks | 32768 | SUBPLOT_MAX_VOLUME |
| Smallest volume, blocks | 8 | SUBPLOT_MIN_VOLUME |
A sub-plot must stay in one piece, inside land of its own city, and may not overlap another one.
A new sub-plot is private: only the mayor, the owner and the members may do anything in it.

/subplot ungroup [name]

Putting a sub-plot into a plot group gives the group's members the group's rights inside it, on top of what they have anyway.
During a war, enemies are judged by the war rules, not by the sub-plot. During a village's raid hour the whole village is open, sub-plots included.
/subplot setowner <player> [name] - give it to a citizen
/subplot clearowner [name] - take it back for the city
A sub-plot goes back to the city when its owner leaves the city or is kicked.
/subplot fs <price> [name] - for sale to citizens (0 = free)
/subplot nfs [name] - off sale
/subplot tax <amount> [name] - daily tax the owner pays the city
/subplot buy [name] - buy it; confirm with /agree
/subplot giveback [name] - give your sub-plot back to the city
/subplot accepttax [name] - agree to an announced tax raise
- Rent: price 0 with a tax — the sub-plot shows as "rent N a day".
-
buyasks for/agreewith the price and tax it showed you. Passing them yourself (/subplot buy flat 40 5) buys at once, but only if they still match. - Giving a sub-plot back refunds part of the price on the same terms as giving back a plot.
- The tax is at most 50 (
MAX_SUBPLOT_TAX). The mayor pays none on their own sub-plots.
Lowering the tax applies at once. A raise is only announced:
- The owner keeps paying the old tax for 24 hours (
SUBPLOT_TAX_RAISE_DELAY_HOURS). - To keep the sub-plot, the owner agrees with
/subplot accepttaxor the button in the window. - When the wait is over, an owner who agreed moves to the new tax. An owner who did not gets a refund and the sub-plot goes back to the city.
An owner who cannot pay the daily tax loses the sub-plot to the city.
- A plot with a sub-plot in it cannot be unclaimed, sold to a citizen or added to a plot group until the sub-plot is reshaped or removed.
- If a plot leaves the city anyway — captured in a war, ceded, sold to another city — the part of the sub-plot over it is cut off. If nothing is left, or the rest falls apart, the sub-plot is dissolved.
- A dissolved sub-plot refunds its owner what they paid, as far as the treasury allows.
- Deleting the city dissolves all its sub-plots.
Every change — made, sold, returned, taxed, removed — is written to the city log.
