Reporting Problems

Bug reports are useful, and the alpha is when they matter most. If an app you care about doesn't work, tell us. That's how the compatibility list grows.

What to include

  • The Mac.apk version. Mac.apk → About Mac.apk (or select Mac.apk in Applications and press ⌘I).
  • Your macOS version. Apple menu → About This Mac, or sw_vers -productVersion in Terminal.
  • Which app, where you got it, and its version.
  • What happened, and what you expected instead. A screenshot is worth a lot.
  • The app's log, the single most useful attachment (see below).

If the app came from Aurora Store, say which device profile Aurora is using; it should be Pixel Tablet (see App Stores).

Finding the log

Logs live in ~/Library/Logs/macapk/, one per app, named app_<package>_<version>.log. In Finder, press ⇧⌘G and paste that path.

Since v1.0.1666 the log doesn't record what you type: key presses and text-box contents are redacted, password fields always. It does still record where you click or tap (a capped number of touches per run) and the text of an app's pop-up "toast" messages, so look it over before you post it anywhere public.

Where to send it

Email Kaleb@voltare.us or open an issue.

Before reporting a freeze, check that it isn't the first launch: the first launch of an app (and the first after a Mac.apk update) can take up to a minute. See Troubleshooting.
