Troubleshooting

"The background service is not running"

sudo snap restart mc-server-installer

then open the menu again.

Players can't join

  • Their Minecraft version must match the server's (shown at the top of the menu). If a new Minecraft is out, press u.
  • They must type the address shown at the top of the menu.
  • With the whitelist on, they must be in Players (p).
  • From outside your home, see Playing Together.

"Only name can change this server"

Only the person who set the server up can change it. To hand it over: sudo mc-server-installer.ctl set-owner user=THEIR_LOGIN_NAME

The server stopped twice by itself

The menu says so at the top. Press c to read the end of the server's log; it usually names the problem. If it mentions memory (OutOfMemoryError), give the server more in Settings.

Something else

The background service's log helps when asking for help:

sudo snap logs -n 100 mc-server-installer.service

Open an issue at https://github.com/kz6fittycent/mc-server-installer/issues and paste it in.
