2. Creating Commands
There are actually only 7 different command types in the LCC ecosystem.
- Brushed motor commands
- Stepper motor commands
- Location detection commands
- Sound effect commands
- GPIO switching commands
- RGB LED control commands
- RGB LED scene commands
Command libraries are segregated by 4 device types where each one supports specific command types.
- Brushed motor controllers
- Stepper motor controllers
- Switching controllers
- Model train locomotives
At the actual electronic level, the stepper motor controller is the only one that's different than the rest. A switching controller simply excludes motor control commands so that there's no way to introduce delays in switching, but they still support all of the other command types. A brushed motor controller and a model train locomotive are functionally identical, they're just two separate device types in order to keep each of their command libraries segregated.
To get a feel for the various command types, click on the green control (CTRL) button on any device on the home page and test each of the command types in the dropdown menu that displays. The options in each command type are 100% obvious and don't require any special explanation.

The idea behind the command library is to create database records that turn any of these commands into presets with all of the settings saved. Once these command presets entries are saved, you can launch them with the blue command (CMD) button or add them to the device's command favorites that display at the bottom of the device pane.

- Click on Commands in the menu bar and then click on the Create New Command button.

- Click the button for the Device Type.

- Click the button for the Command Type.

- Fill in the parameters for the selected Command Type and then click the Save button.
Click on Devices in the menu bar and click the Edit button on a device of the same type as the command that you just created.

You will see that all of the commands that you created for this device type are shown in the box at the bottom of the editor pane. If you are on a Windows or Linux PC, hold your CTRL key and click on each command that you want to favorite. If you are on a Mac, you would used your Command key instead.
Click the Save button when you're done and then return to the home page.

You will now see that all of the commands that you favorited are now shown and the bottom of the device pane. All of your commands are also accessible by clicking on the blue command (CMD) button.
