Copper Lance
Copper Lances are gimmick melee weapons made of copper which are specifically made for horseback combat.
Copper Lances have a base attack damage of 6, an attack speed of 1.2, and an extra 1 block of reach. This makes them similar to a diamond spear, albeit slower and with less range. While riding any vanilla mountable mob, lances gain a massive 10 attack damage, totaling to 16.
Copper Lances will oxidize based on how much durability they have, progressing a stage at 300, 200, and 100 durability. This is based on the current durability of the item, and not total durability used, meaning a lance oxidized by 1 stage that is repaired to full durability will not oxidize again until 200 durability, making it possible to keep your preferred look by keeping your lance repaired.
Lances can be crafted with the shown recipe. They cannot be obtained anywhere else currently.
Copper Lances can be repaired using unoxidized copper blocks, including waxed copper blocks.
Copper Lances have one of the highest damage potentials in Valiance, when combined with the right enchantments, Totem of Irregularity, and potions, they can do over 25 damage, even over 30 if using an enchantment like Smite on certain targets. It is advised to lean into this as much as possible, as armor and speed are not a very big issue while riding a mount.
The greatest risk to using a Copper Lance is the well-being of your mount, which may be caught in the crossfires of attacks from ranged monsters or explosions. Using a horse with high health paired with diamond horse armor is very important, and an Enchanted Horse Flute for emergencies is highly recommended.
Lastly, aiming a melee weapon while on a mount is tough, as the better ones like horses and camels will often have their heads in the way of your crosshair. Practicing in a controlled environment is advised.
