ZoomArc Release Notes

The latest version is ZoomArc 0.12.1 (17 October 2026) — download it here. The complete history is in CHANGELOG.md.

0.12.1 — transparent-export fixes

  • Transparent formats now explain what they need: picking MOV, MKV or PNG sequence while the background is solid shows "Background isn't transparent" with a one-click Make transparent button.
  • No more accidental black backgrounds: turning the background transparent switches export to MOV automatically, and exporting transparency as MP4 asks first.
  • Checkerboard preview behind transparent areas.
  • New format: WebM · VP9 (transparent) — plays with transparency in Chrome, Edge, OBS and web pages.
  • Verified real alpha in MOV (ProRes 4444), MKV (FFV1), PNG sequence and transparent WebM exports.

0.12.0 — the precision-recording release

  • Native 60 fps recording — screens and windows recorded straight to hardware H.264 MP4 at a true 60 fps (previously ~16–24 fps), on 60/120/144 Hz displays.
  • 2,000 Hz cursor tracking on the same clock as the video — cursor and screen line up exactly.
  • Exact 1:1 cursor replay (Smoothing slider defaults to 0%).
  • New zoom and camera engine — 20–30× smoother camera motion, no edge-stops.
  • 44 keyboard shortcuts, a shortcuts overlay, and a new Help menu.
  • Redesigned recording screen with a live timer and minute dial.
  • New logo and app icon; live previews for every monitor.
  • Fixes: video falling behind the cursor in long takes, stutter during drags, window-recording cursor offsets, preview drift, exports ignoring the custom cursor, redo, and missing monitors on hybrid-GPU laptops.

0.11.1

  • Fixed the native capture module not loading in packaged builds (the cause of "can't exclude the cursor" errors in 0.11.0).

0.11.0

  • First GitHub release; packaging only.

0.10.0

  • Native Windows Graphics Capture module with guaranteed cursor exclusion, custom cursor images, webcam dragging and resizing, 60 fps capture target, and many reliability fixes.
