Verses and Content
These settings live on the Verse tab of the settings panel. They control which verse is shown, where it comes from, and how often it changes.
- Automatic rotation checkbox - turn the timer on or off. When off, the verse only changes when you ask for it.
- Duration - type how many seconds to wait between verses. The default is 1800 seconds (30 minutes). Common choices: 300 (5 minutes), 3600 (1 hour), 86400 (once a day).
Changing the timer never disturbs the verse currently on screen.
- Click the arrow (chevron) next to the reference on the panel, or
- Click the Change verse button on this tab.
Both show the next verse immediately.
The Online fetch (quran.com) checkbox decides where verses come from:
- Off (the default) - verses come from a list built into the skin. No internet is used at all. Great for privacy or if you are often offline.
- On - each new verse is fetched fresh from the free quran.com service over the internet, giving you the full range of verses.
Automatic fallback: even with online fetch on, if the internet is unavailable at the moment a verse should change, the skin quietly shows one from the offline list instead. You are never left with a blank panel.
When online fetch is on, you can also choose a language - see Languages.
The line under the verse (for example Al Quran 2:255) is made of two parts you can control:
- Reference label - the text before the number, "Al Quran" by default. Click the box, type your own label, and press Enter.
- Show reference label checkbox - hide the label if you only want the number.
- Show verse number checkbox - hide the number if you only want the label.
These apply to both online and offline verses. If you hide both, the reference line disappears entirely.
Want to keep one favourite verse or a dua on screen instead of random ones? Turn on Use custom verse:
- Type your text in the custom text box.
- Optionally type a sura (chapter) number and a verse number for the reference. Both are optional; leave them blank and the reference just shows your label.
While a custom verse is on, the timer pauses and the next-verse arrow is hidden, so your chosen text is never replaced. Turn the checkbox off to go back to normal rotating verses.
More detail and examples: Offline & Custom Verses.
There is an Open file in Notepad control that opens the built-in verse list so you can add your own favourites. See Offline & Custom Verses for the exact format.
The Reset button returns every setting to its original default. Copy any custom text you want to keep before using it.
