A court docket contains a brief list of upcoming court proceedings and filings, so the court is able to keep track of multiple cases. Most dockets contain:
- a docket number, which identifies the number of the case
- history of the case, which lists all of the events that have occurred in a case
- decision date
- the name of the court the case is currently in
- the questions presented in the case
- party names
Court dockets are generally considered to be public records.
